Head Coaching Changes

Elmhurst native, Archbishop Molloy grad, Miami assistant Chris Caputo named George Mason coach
Has apparently been coaching for 19 years, but looks like a bald 21-year-old. Maybe the stress of a head coaching job will wrinkle him up.

I thought Caputo from Miami was getting the job?

Loyola Chicago seems like they would be a nice Big East fit. A Catholic private school in a big market with a good basketball program. DePaul would promptly veto it so it’ll never happen though.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It is surprising that in a basketball rich city like Chicago, Loyola/Chi has gotten good lately, but hasn't really been much of a factor the last 40 years; DePaul was a powerhouse at one time, and they have been in the doldrums since it seems like forever. I think it is good for college basketball when a big market school does well in the tourney but for the Big East it would be better if it was DePaul, who know's maybe with a new coach?

Wow
All the talk was Caputo getting the job.
Wonder if maybe Laranagga might be packing it in and maybe Caputo has the reigns after him?

Hope it works out for them. But this tells me they whiffed on about 10 candidates.

Reports out of Indianapolis that Matta was close to taking IU job. But it fell thru. IU denied it but there is some Matta smoke.

I thought I read some rumor that they wanted him to take a physical and he refused. Not sure if the OP was just F'ing with people, though.

That is a short leash.  And this just popped in my head no inside iinformation but I can see one name/person surfacing here.  Archie Miller.  He is going to get another job, obviously probably not be at the level of IU.  But he is still a well regarded young coach. Coached Dayton, Asst at Ohio St for Thad Matta.  Very tuned into Ohio hoops....

Some leaks of major issues between Brannen and his players.
I never heard of the guy until his firing announcement. 6 or 7 kids in the portal is a clue.
