Head Coaching Changes

Lavs should stay in the booth.  He’s perfect there and one of the best bball commentators around. I wonder if he’s got the stamina for the grind of college ball.

That is a bit of a shocker.  Bill Murray's son that is.  Been with Chris since 2015 with Xavier.  Mack always referred to him as a "superstar."

Luke Murray, Dino Gaudio not returning to Louisville as assistant coaches, current contracts would not be renewed

Zach:
SOURCES: Fordham is focusing on four candidates: Shaheen Holloway, James Jones, Jared Grasso and Kyle Neptune. The hope is a new coach will be in place by early next week. Tony Barbee and Carmen Maciariello were in final round of interviews.

Sign me up for Murray too. But I would like to know what happened at Louisville.

Wonder if just a scapegoat or feels there is a legit better AC he has in wings.

I think if it were a scandalous non-basketball issue he would have been the only one fired. I think Mack was just pissy about missing tournament and ditched two longtime associates.

I chalk it up to Mack being a Class A you know what.

Surprising because it was stated early they were looking for previous HC experience.  That being said I would rank him ahead of Halloway and Jones but behind Grasso for Fordham specifically

Wrt Murray and Mack maybe on Mack trying to place blame somewhere. But I can't believe he would just dump a respected young assistant out of arrogant spite.

Perhaps an AD ultimatum?  Louisville not used to falling short of the tournament.

I think with a multi year deal and likely a hefty severance, at this point Mack has leverage against that kind of thing.   He could have dug in and said "These are my guys, which would earn him a lot of respect.   But as Moose said...."

Scapegoats for a bad season, not happy with the recruiting in terms of the kids getting, became stagnate, alot of reasons.  Sometimes a coach will shake up the staff.   Sometimes it is a final act of desperation (not in this case) and sometimes, there is just a need for a change.

The crazier thing with Mack is he goes back to 2001-2004 with Dino Gaudio.  They have known each other a long time.  He got Dino to come out of retirement too.
