Deangelo is Italian. He talks with his hands
Can I delete this thread...Jesus. I didn't mean to start this nonsense. Harrison is a fiery kid and I get that. From the looks of it, he went a little too far this time. That's all I was getting at. If we saw it, then scouts saw it or spoke to someone that did...that will hurt D'Angelo. We don't know what was said or the relationship between coach and Harrison. Time to lock this thing up and move on.
Agreed! Enough already...there is no smoking gun, he is a talented kid who plays with a lot of emotion and expression, sometimes he makes bad decisions, just like my 22 head old...and we really need him to win!
lesson learned ...... Do not start a thread about a player with the word "antics" in the title. LOL!
We understand the intent of the posting.....I think we all agree he is playing below his 2011 level and he needs to calm down and get into the flow of the offense. It is pretty much a free-for-all right now and Jamal will settle them down. Lavin is in serious need of a point guard who can score and the top priority is the kid from Philly. Lose him to Temple and we become razor thin at the pg. It is clear neither D'Lo or Phil are pgs nor are they strong defenders. Phil was never projected to be a starter since the job went to Nurideen by default but he will be great off the bench next year.
I'd say we areU in need of a PG that can distribute the ball, not score.
The top point guards can do both so I am wishful thinking we can get a player half as goof as Mo Mo Jones at Iona.

Moose, You just gave Marco Baldi a stroke! LOL!!
why would you compare MoMo to D'Lo? MoMo can play play both positions blindfolded while D'Lo, to date, has not shown much PG skill. look at the APG and PPG and my point is made. I also want the ball in MoMos hands in a close game (FT%).
You brought up Momo. I showed their numbers are near identical. Momo has advantage on assists, Dee on rebounds. He averages 1.5 more ppg on 1 more shot a game. So no significant gap there.
There is just so much negitivity here. Whatever happened big or small is between Lavin and Harrison. And to me it doesn't seem like much. Why cant we just enjoy the team and hope that they continue winning. you can watch any game between any 2 teams and find hundreds of things that look odd. Watch the games, enjoy the games and leave what happens to players to the coaching staff. GEEZ.

Follow the thread........I brought MoMo up in response to Alum98s comment.

I said:
"The top point guards can do both so I am wishful thinking we can get a player half as good as Mo Mo Jones at Iona".
it was not in the context of the blown up discussion about Harrison.
A statistics professor once required his class to read "How to lie with statistics". Harrison's stats won't mean a thing if he starts scoring 25 ppg and we lose every game against quality opponents. It's not his "numbers" that are the problem.
Finally, in response to Joey3, MoMo transferred for family reasons, which the NCAA saw fit to award him with immediate eligibility. The ONLY reason he is at IONA is because coach Hicks contact with MoMo "prior" to college would have required him to sit at St. John's......the school he first contacted. If it were not for that little hiccup Jones would be our starting point guard and the course of SJ's rebuilding would have changed dramatically.
Was it bad under Norm as well? There is just so much negitivity here. Whatever happened big or small is between Lavin and Harrison. And to me it doesn't seem like much. Because these are STJ fans. They will complain when we lose in the Elite 8.

Momo and Harrison would never be able to co-exist in the same backcourt.
Of course you know Eric should have gotten the ball to Ronnie before getting stripped, right? We also could have guarded Rudd better. There is just so much negitivity here. You do realize your nitpicking over a guy who is like 2nd in BE in scoring
You ever notice that even when he was putting up numbers, the Yankees always seemed to win more games when A-Rod was out?
Yes I know that.
But do you seriously think STJ would be a better team without Harrison?
Not a chance. And he is our best player, that's not debatable either.
But, Marillac's original point is a legitimate one - D'angelo can't be getting in coach's face. The entire first half of the season has been an on-going lesson in maturity for him, when does it end?
Just as important though, there's something to be said for his style of play this year. Everyone here can point to a dozen instances where he didn't pass out of a double team, or took a contested 3 from 28 ft early in the shot clock.
It's hard to put a finger on it, but there is definitely a sense that Harrison is concerned about getting his 20 every night. And in the long run, that won't be good for the team.
We needed him to try to develop some point guard skills, and even after all the talk over the summer - it's clear he hasn't.
I agree re: Harrison and our chances sans him.
As for the finger pointing I still haven't seen the video but if the picture was the only evidence in a court case it would get thrown out. He could have been pointing at anything behind him etc... If he was pointing at Lavin, he showed he would bench him and I think he would have sat him right then and there. Dee was hot at the officials and a few FU players. I'm sure he was just reacting to them while talking to Lavin.
As for Harrison being a PG, its tough when Phil has the ball in his hands all the time and Harrison is trying to get open from the Box and 1 shadow on him. I wish he would handle the ball more as well, just because I think he has a good way of getting contact and on the line. But Phil has the ball for the majority of the possession.

Maybe he was pointing out a spot on Lavin's tie and was angry at coach for eating before the game as they had plans for a cosy little dinner after the game for just the two of them.As for the finger pointing I still haven't seen the video but if the picture was the only evidence in a court case it would get thrown out. I agree it's a dilemma. As for the finger pointing, he may well have been hot about something unrelated to Lavin, but there is no question that he was in coach's face pointing his finger repeatedly at Lavin's chest. Not good. Fortunately for Harrison, Lavin is his coach and can handle that behavior. Huggins or Frank Martin would've decked him. Don't even want to think about what Coach Knight would've done...
So you saw it on TV live. Your certain he was pointing at Lavin's chest and not at something that was maybe behind him.
I ask because all I saw was a tiny pic Marillac posted and not the video. Or the sequence for the matter.
Then again, look at Sprewell can be a headcase but still get the job done as long as you keep scoring. Appropriate behavior or not, take D'Lo off this team and we are possibly the worst Big East team and have zero offense.

BASED ON WHAT I saw last night THINK JAKARR WILL NOT BE A ONE AND NONE.At THE BEGINNING I THOUGHT we would go 500 in confr now It maybe we will be lucky to get 3 wins Think if we had Sanchez we may be undefeated at this pt Hope things turn around but without Sanchez it will be very very tough

Even though I am dissapointed, based on the whole year so far. The game went into OT and we almost stole a BE road game. Its not like we got blown out by 25 points.
