Harrison suspended rest of the year

Could it be that Harrison issues may be the result of his brother serving some major time..He appears to be very close to his brother!

In a related move, Redmen.com suspended Moose for the remainder of the season for being president of the D'Angelo Harrison fan club. Moose and his family are discussing his options to transfer to another site.

I can honestly say that I never saw Dlo dog it once this year. The shots he took were the ones he ws hitting last year so I have no problem with that. Despite his slump he's still third in the league in scoring and I don't know how you can question that. He has passed creatively throughout and I take all the body language comments with a grain of salt. I watched Lavin decrease Sean Evans time to an average of twelve minutes after taking credit for him being a great reclamation project. Frankly I think Lavin is FOS in many ways and I wwonder if that's snake oil in his hair instead of gel. You have to be able to relate to all kinds of players in this racket without resorting to pussy tactics like suspensions. I dealt with a lot of recalcitrant employees over the years but suspensions were rare and just considered a failure to manage. Ultimately though it's the fans and his team mates who pay the price for this BS. Let's remember that Lavin was the guy who brought him here and his performance is part of his responsibility. I key in every day looking for good news about the program but more often than not it's crap like this. I can't see where this will provide any benefit to recruiting going forward and right now the cupboard seems pretty bare to me. I'm disgusted to say the least

I knew you couldn't wait to show your "objectivity." The same person who chastises one on when they should return to work after battling cancer and the death of his father. Yeah, what I'm saying is irrelevant to the conversation, but it honestly takes away from your post(s) on this matter.

Selfish move by Lav- this pisses me off to no end-- does he think of the other players who busted their butts all season? Unless Harrison flat out refused to practice, or cursed a coach out-- this suspension is ridiculous.

Selfish move by lag? I say selfish move by D'lo. The supposed star can't be above team rules. For all we know maybe some players had a problem with him and went to the coach. I sit across from bench at MSG whenever he got taken out and coaches went to speak with him he always turned the other way. Can we use his scoring? Thats a no brainer but there also have to rules in place that EVERYONE needs to follow.

Sit him for a game then, see how he reacts-- the rest of the season sounds harsh.

This is crazy talk.

His 18 PPG does not give him a free pass to do whatever he wants however and whenever he wants to do it. Point blank. End of story.

It's not crazy talk, Ihave watched Harrison play he wants to WIN. So what he shakes his head a lot.

You are dreaming if you think HArrison got suspended for shaking his head on the court. He went off publicly on Rico Hines in Syracuse, and I believe went off in practice against the coaching staff.

Rico deserved it for staying in the zone that entire game.

Not sure how i feel about Harrison coming back next year. It's like going out again with an ex-girlfriend that cheated on you. It will always be on your mind that she's a cheater. It's not insurmountable for him to work hard, come back with a good attitude, and make positive contributions. The coaching staff will figure it out. We need guys that can play together, defend fiercely, hustle, shoot, and have a good time out there.

hi first of all dangelo is a head case i personally think he sees his nba chances going down the drain and is starting to see he needs out to maybe a midmajor to get himself a chance again. also this team is jinxed i dont know what to say anymore other then see you next year. also people are acting like rasheed is a lock please he is 90 percent going to temple and now no harrison we better pray he wants to come back or tourney is no lock next year either.

Jordan is a 90% lock to Temple, huh? What is this based on?
based on friends i have who live in philly. if im wrong ill never post here again. good day all im out take care jhonnies fans

I spoke to a guy who also hails from Philly, and is close to the recruitment. That isn't quite what I heard. But we shall see in another month.

I hope this wake up call/reality check gives DLo the opportunity to assess his situation and rededicate himself to finishing his career here. Maybe his dedication to his teammates will give him the drive to come back next year. Now he knows he'll be on a short leash and that'll drive him to succeed.

For this to occur now after all that has transpired before and during the season Harrison must have done something that was so over the top that Lavin had to suspend him or risk losing the respect of his fellow coaches and players.

Shame on everyone throwing DH under the bus before any official details are released. Kid plays with more passion than any one else on the team. DH is the only player i have seen in this squad actually slap the floor after a run to pump his teammates up. Good riddance? Shame on you.
I thought everything he did was self promotion. He was just getting started here and he could not wait to let people know he would not be around long. Why, obvious. He thought he was to good for us. His teammates were great with him on the court. They were lookin out for him, and with top talents it should be the other way around. I just can't figure why he could not be 100% for the team these next few weeks and leave like a gentlemen with good words all around.

Why not deflect some blame on the the coach who overhypes everyone to ungodly levels. Marco is Steve Kerr and John Paxson. I'm sure there are others I'm choosing not to remember now.

it's the posters on these sites...not the coaches...who anoint our guys as saviors.

Do some posters yes? But thats not the point here.
Lavin loves quotes and analogies and he is the one what compares people and drops lines.
Dee is no angel. We all knew that. But you put up with it when its 18 ppg. Now we have to replace 18 ppg. Lets see how.

Completely disagree on what you just stated. " you put up with it when it's 18 points a game"???? That guy who sis scoring that 18 points a game on 3 - 40 shooting ( exaggerating to make a point) is giving up 38 points a game in other ways , ala being a ball hog, not playing defense and taking horrific shots which deflate the moral of the rest of the team. We all know your a Harrison supporter but that statement is just absurd.

I don't know what is more amazing:
1. Miguel is so convinced he is right he would abdicate his posting priviledges (obviously now we have more reasons to root for Jordan committing here)
or
2. He has friends

Maybe 20 wins but do you think Jakarr would have recommitted? I think he came here to take Moe's minutes. Doubt we would of had both.

They both committed to play together in 2011. So, we could've and would've had both.

How can you just assume that? Things changed since the first commitment. If Moe had stayed Jakarr's minutes would be way down. A team like Kansas or Baylor could have promised him the same playing time as Lavin. Being third fiddle at St. John's or third fiddle at Kansas? What would you chose.

I am sure that Lavin's second effort recruiting Jakarr included him saying "Look at what Moe was able to do in 1 year. You can step right in and fill his shoes" We are lucky Jakarr came back but it was not a lock.

@GregLogan1: Asked if he suggested Harrison transfer, Lavin said "He beat me to the punch & said he wanted to finish career here...." #stjbb

Ie., no pro scouts were calling my phone

Tried that at the start of the season. Clearly, it didn't work.

One last thing, I'm sad about all this agenda pushing/argument baiting that goes on here. Lavin is the head coach, some posters need to get over it. D'Angelo is one of ours unless he or the staff decide otherwise, and posters should be cognizant that players - not just the ones they dislike - are able to see the support (or lack their of) of our posters. There's a reason I include my face with my screen name.

Posted in bold: I know this person who's a sports radio guy in my area, and he feels anyone who posts on message boards should do what you mentioned above. He was ripped by some callers and folks on a message board because he's a South Carolina Gamecock alum, and he didn't particularly want his son (a top 75-100 football recruit in the 2013 class) to go to South Carolina to play football. He also had to deal with some callers and many, message board members calling out his son, as well. That really made him livid.

He especially feels the ones who are always agenda-driven and trash-talkers should definitely do it, so the other members can see who them. By you bringing it up kinda had me thinking that he might be onto something. That's a subject for another day.

I can assume that the same way you assumed it. The difference is my assumption actually happened when both committed back in August and September of 2010, respectively.

I'm sure that was Lavin's pitch after the fact, but you have to also remember it was early in our season when Lavin started re-recruiting Sampson. I'm fairly confident Sampson and Harkless could've co-existed.

I think I'd prefer to not have to see most of Redmen members' ugly mugs. :)

This is not something that happened overnight. He was not happy here. (his attitude certainly did not help)
He discussed transfer process back in December.
At this point he is considering either going pro or certainly transferring.

LOL

You're probably right, STJ11.

Whether we win or lose I can't wait to see what posters say after the Providence game.

Any predictions on that?
