Harrison suspended rest of the year

@GregLogan1: Asked if he suggested Harrison transfer, Lavin said "He beat me to the punch & said he wanted to finish career here...." #stjbb

Well.... I guess we'll see him back based on that particular quote. Let's see how this transpires.

hi first of all dangelo is a head case i personally think he sees his nba chances going down the drain and is starting to see he needs out to maybe a midmajor to get himself a chance again. also this team is jinxed i dont know what to say anymore other then see you next year. also people are acting like rasheed is a lock please he is 90 percent going to temple and now no harrison we better pray he wants to come back or tourney is no lock next year either.

Jordan is a 90% lock to Temple, huh? What is this based on?
based on friends i have who live in philly. if im wrong ill never post here again. good day all im out take care jhonnies fans

I spoke to a guy who also hails from Philly, and is close to the recruitment. That isn't quite what I heard. But we shall see in another month.

I don't know what is more amazing:
1. Miguel is so convinced he is right he would abdicate his posting priviledges (obviously now we have more reasons to root for Jordan committing here)
or
2. He has friends
i see what your doing i wont be baited have a great day lol

As is usually the case big (and no doubt dissapointing) news like this is polarizing and most of the opinions are on one extreme or the other. Most times it's somewhere in the middle, and as actual details from the people involved trickle out seems like there is a chance that is the case here. I certainly have no idea, but the probability that it's either "we'll be better off without D'Angelo long term" or "Lavin has no idea what he's doing" are equally very, very low.

One insinuation that is simply inaccurate is the notion that D'Angelo wasn't playing hard defensively. As frustrating as his offensive play has been lately on a number of levels recently, he's actually played harder defensively as his offense has slid. I sit with 8 people at the games and while everyone was completely confused by his offensive play at Pitt, everyone was in agreement he was still getting after it on the other end. This is the same kid who (along with Greene) was pressing Louisville 94 feet down 30 at the Garden last year with 2 minutes left, playing on a team with 6 players, 5 freshman.

He has been involved in internal turmoil, he has not done what the team needed from him offensively, and those are both big problems. But that doesn't mean we have to completely disparrage him and cast him in the cliche category of a prima donna scorer who if he isn't getting his doesn't care about anything else. Because that is untrue based on the balance of the body of his work here, under less than ideal circumstances at times.

The only problem with his status somewhat up in the air is that there may e another prospect somewhere whose recruitment may hinge on playing time. I hope if he commits to stay he follows through on it so another potential player does not go elsewhere.

By the way, I watched the Florida HS basketball championships last night and saw this 6'4 shooting guard named Grayson Allen hit three pointer after three pointer, was quick, smart and was a great leader. He is in the 2014 class and is far more talented then New Yorks Mr. Whitehead. I hope coach looks into that kid, I sent him an e mail about him.

Even with the recent postings stating his initial reaction was he wants to stay for next year, I would be extremely surprised if Harrison ever puts on an SJU uniform again...

Whether we win or lose I can't wait to see what posters say after the Providence game.

Any predictions on that?

If we lose: How could Lavin suspend D'Lo! He was the best SG ever. He just needed a hug.

If we win: Marco is the next Mullin. Just watch.

;)

You never know with college athletes these days, but I am pretty confident he'll be back. This is an opportunity for this young man. He plays hard and he's passionate. He needs to learn to channel his agression better...losing can be frustrating, but it's time to grow up. This year is lost anyway...the ceiling is right near the heads of these kids. Next year the sky is the limit.

This is not something that happened overnight. He was not happy here. (his attitude certainly did not help)
He discussed transfer process back in December.
At this point he is considering either going pro or certainly transferring.
Where did you hear he discussed transferring in Dec. I never heard anything?

Or maybe he realizes that no other coach would put up with HS court antics?

I highly doubt he is going to sit out a full year to transfer to another school. It doesn't make sense, especially for a guy like Harrison. He won't be getting a hardship waiver especially after the fact he we suspended for disciplinary reasons... It would be obvious to the committee that he is transferring because of that... He is not the type of guy that is going to sit out of actual game time for the next 18 months...however i wouldn't be surprised to hear he goes overseas to play, cuz he isn't an NBA player, at least at this stage...

If he does not come back, who starts at Shooting Guard?

Probably go with a starting lineup of Branch, Bourgault, Sampson, Sanchez and Obekpa

I think Lavin is legitimately offering him a chnace to come back. I think Lavin would expect to see a big change, and not just accept him unconditionally. I don't believe that Harrison will be contrite about this, and instead will immediately be looking to leave St Johns

and go where? you know with his attitude and ego he isn't sitting out till October 2014...unless he goes pro, he'll be back at SJU, like it or not

Shame on everyone throwing DH under the bus before any official details are released. Kid plays with more passion than any one else on the team. DH is the only player i have seen in this squad actually slap the floor after a run to pump his teammates up. Good riddance? Shame on you.
I thought everything he did was self promotion. He was just getting started here and he could not wait to let people know he would not be around long. Why, obvious. He thought he was to good for us. His teammates were great with him on the court. They were lookin out for him, and with top talents it should be the other way around. I just can't figure why he could not be 100% for the team these next few weeks and leave like a gentlemen with good words all around.

Why not deflect some blame on the the coach who overhypes everyone to ungodly levels. Marco is Steve Kerr and John Paxson. I'm sure there are others I'm choosing not to remember now.

it's the posters on these sites...not the coaches...who anoint our guys as saviors.

Do some posters yes? But thats not the point here.
Lavin loves quotes and analogies and he is the one what compares people and drops lines.
Dee is no angel. We all knew that. But you put up with it when its 18 ppg. Now we have to replace 18 ppg. Lets see how.

Completely disagree on what you just stated. " you put up with it when it's 18 points a game"???? That guy who sis scoring that 18 points a game on 3 - 40 shooting ( exaggerating to make a point) is giving up 38 points a game in other ways , ala being a ball hog, not playing defense and taking horrific shots which deflate the moral of the rest of the team. We all know your a Harrison supporter but that statement is just absurd.

You disagree with me.
In other news the sky is blue

Again I was referring to fans, not coaches.

Harrison plays D and hoists up just as many bad shots as any other player on this team. The difference is the chances are better going in when it leaves his hand. But he doesn't look or act like the boy you want your daughter or sister to date and therefore he's a bad boy.

I am not commenting on his suspension. I don't know what happened. The only thing I will say with certainty and gladly eat crow on is that the 18 ppg we are losing will not be easy to replace regardless of how many people fill the void. If we miraculously play better without him I'd be shocked.

I have to say I have never seen sooooo many people Jump on and off a bus so fast. We do not even know the details and we are balming his attitude and temper, his latest stats and if we wait long enough his "faux hawk" He is a 20 year old kid who is an amazing basketball player....that will be missed and honestly who absence CANT be overcome quickly. He is our go to guy. People are blaming Lavin ....for what? Do you know something we dont know? I read he is "jumping the gun" he's "lost control" blah blah. We need to sit back and wait for the details....then we can stop the banter a discuss the facts. In the mean time......we have taken a big hit....a big one....but not as big as that 20 year old kid who saw basketball as a way out. Lets have some compassion

Amazing basketball players don't shoot 35% from the field and wilt under big east competition.
You just don't get it..............
