Harrison 2,000 point tracker

I dont know if there is a more skilled guard in the BE than Dlo. That is what he has developed into over these four years. I think ive loved this kid more each and every game he has played. There was a play late in todays game where the ball was going out of bounds, and it would have been just fine if dlo didnt make a run at it, that's what EVERY other player on the court did, but dlo still went after it. In a 25 pt game for a lose ball he had no business getting and he did it anyway. He damn near got it to.

This kid deserves every little ounce of recognition he gets for his play this year. Go make a run for national POY Dlo. People might think thats a crazy statement, you think dlo does too?

I totally agree. And, on that play he had the ball, but the Tulane guy pushed him out of bounds and got away with it. D'Lo smirked and just let it go, likely because of the score, but also because he's matured to the point that he doesn't let a play like that get to him and throw him off. We can never have enough D'Lo's on our team.

And the technical foul on him was absolute BS.

I forgot about that, but I agree with you. No foul on him at all on that play. Total nonsense call, but once the Tulane guy missed both FT's, I let it go.

I agree. When he got hit, he just threw out his hands, under control, and smiled as if to say to the kid who elbowed him, "What the heck was that?" I don't know what came out of his mouth though, but based on his body language it was legit for him to react in that way because it appeared to be a cheap shot, intentional or not.

Funny, I always knew the name Zeke Zawoluk as leading us to our only NCAA final appearance, but stumbled upon this news item quite by accident, and had never heard of anything about this guy besides being an all time SJU scorer. Sad story:

http://www.collegehoopedia.com/players/basketball-stars-in-real-world

Zeke Zawoluk, St. John's - Averaged 6.8 ppg and 4.1 rpg with the Indianapolis Olympians and Philadelphia Warriors in three NBA seasons from 1952-53 through 1954-55. Worked in sales for General Motors and Pitney-Bowes during a life fraught with assorted problems before becoming an assistant coach at Lehman College. His turbulent life included vast emotional instability, an arson rap, a crack addiction, a grand larceny conviction and prison. After getting fired by one of a series of auto dealers he worked for, he got even in an alcohol-fueled rage in Queens and Nassau County in 1986, dousing two luxury cars with gasoline, torching them, then ramming into 17 other cars, before being apprehended after a high-speed chase. Following another transgression, he was paroled on Christmas Eve, 1993, after serving nearly two years at Clinton Correctional Facility on robbery and grand larceny charges. A subsequent positive drug test violated his parole and sent him to Rikers Island in the mid-1990s.

I think Newsman visited Zawoluk in the hospital before he died. Not sure how many down-on-their-luck former stars we've had, but Newsman definitely visited one of them and posted about the visit.

If you want to remember anything about Zawoluk...redmen.com sent him a St John's hat which he kept at the side of his bed until the end.

Hey thanks for recollecting that. It's painful for us to have any former players who contributed so much to our great sports tradition to have troubles later on in life. I know Alan Seiden had a rough go of things as well, and though he is way before my time, have heard that he was an exceptional talent. To know that redmen.com guys actually did something so kind, even with a small gesture, really validates to me the caliber of person St. John's helps to form.

Tough loss today, but another 25 points added on to D'Lo's career total. That increases the number to 1854. 146 away from 2,000.

DLO= true warrior!
Much respect!!
Keep your head up!

I feel really sorry for this kid.
And all the kids who are still here honestly.
If the kids start feeling sorry for themselves they would lose every remaining game. Time for them to buck up, continue fighting and win some games. After all, did we give up when the Germans bombed pearl Harbor? Hell no!

So its their fault?

Was going to wait until tomorrow, but I'll do it now, since this thread has popped back up.

31 points for D'Angelo today (matching his season high). A career total of 1885, 115 points away. It's getting close, now. Another month, or so.

The 2k isn't what I'm looking towards honestly. I want to see him become #3 all time and possibly #2 but now that looks tough.

He will be number 3 and that is an honor. Mullin, Sealy, Harrison. Pretty impressive.

Where did I even mention or even hint at fault led alone whose it would be? Thought you were better than that Moose. What is your proposed course of action, that they should put their tail between their legs and give up? There are kids their age dying on battle fields but let's all have a good cry over losing a college basketball game.

Man, I wish we could pull the quotes from people on this board a couple of years ago. Too many tattoos, only cares about his mohawk, poor attitude. The way he's become almost everyone's favorite on here is refreshing.

I would like to see him play a game in the NCAA tourney. But now that looks tough. Still one of the great Johnnies.
