Guys on Matt’s Radar

be the missing piece for an established roster late in the recruiting process. His name is all over message boards as fans discuss who can give their team a boost next season, including those of at least one program close to home in New York.

“Being home isn’t a factor, but don’t get me wrong, it would be a plus to go back and play in front of my family or somewhere close,” he said. “I’m not really factoring that into my recruitment too much; I’m just looking for a place that I can fit within the system to be really good.”

This was from November....

Why his recruitment could take off: A combo forward who does a nice job on the glass, Calloo didn't have quite as big a summer as expected. However, at a place like Oak Hill he's going to get tons of exposure and word is he's carving himself out a niche as a rebounder and 15 foot and in scorer.

Houston Baptist transfer David Caraher has already heard from 18 schools, including Nevada, Oklahoma State & Tennessee, he tells @247Sports. Caraher averaged 16.2 PPG & 7.2 RPG as a freshman.

Another to keep eye on

You would think with all our needs, we would be mentioned by a lot of guys. I don't see us mentioned by anyone. Am I missing something or looking in the wrong places???

I don’t like the idea of recruiting transfers each year. You are essentially recruiting players with eligibilty comparable to juco’s. Go recruit hs kids and earn your money. I for one have seen enough to know that this team will not be top 5 in BE next year. Hopefully it is enough for the end of Mullin experiment.

What's the chance we hear about commitment(s) after visits this weekend?

Aren't you putting the cart before the horse? I'm not aware of any scheduled visits this weekend although Paultz did suggest it was a possibility.

Hi Paultz. Might “...another to keep an eye on...” indicate Matt is in touch with the kid? Looks like a talented wing...and a sit-out?

Informative piece Paultz. Thanks. Schools come out of the wood-work to pursue available talent this late in the process. Goes to show how competitive it is.
I’m grateful he’s on Matt’s ouija board. Hoping we're in the ‘finals’ for Femi.
And he seems like a good and loyal kid to me—which says much in this day and age.
I think he’d fit in and be a great fit—the missing link—to a very successful campaign.
Here’s hoping.

Cart before the horse is the operative phrase for all things pertaining to St. John's recruiting.

My guess is Matt is trying to set visit(s) up this weekend.
But given the feeding frenzy for grad transfers, transfers, any 2018 prospect still dangling, and players ‘freed’ by coaching changes—I don’t think we can or should expect an ‘instant’ commitment by a visiting prospect.
It is a process that extends into May.
Matt is definitely pitching and casting for leads. I’m grateful for that.
I know it’s like asking an emancipated dehydrated ‘wanderer’ escaping the desert to sip that canteen of water—but let’s be a ‘little’ patient and wait.
It is hilarious that me—of all people—is advising patience!

Sit out transfer w 3 years eligibility left. Originally a Butler commit who had very good first season in a much less competitive league than BE. Would suspect staff considers him

Virginia Tech Head Coach Buzz Williams will have an in-home visit with former Kennesaw State guard James Scott this Sunday. Scott has two years of eligibility remaining.
Per Pat Lawless

Likely destination imo

Thought Tony Bennett was HC of Virginia so do you mean Va Tech or UVA?
