You mean Lewis right ?

We know Sterling meant Lewis but the reference to Scottie Reynolds brings back memories of a great Villanova player who got screwed by the NBA.
The guy was an incredible scorer for Nova, was first team All-American and was not drafted through two rounds. He has spent his entire career in Europe.
Those who remember Scottie will recall he was one of the best ever at Nova and Nova was a nationally ranked team during his career there.
It shows how difficult it can be for an undersized guard to get a shot at an NBA job if you are not a great defender and ball handler. Those were Scottie's few flaws but it also underscores the tough road ahead for Shamorie Ponds who is barely 6'1 and a poor defender who played very little point at St. John's thus far.

Ah '72, you're just pitching for Shamorie to stay his senior year!
Joking.
You make great points.
Here's hoping Ponds works hard on the gaps in his game, has a monstrous year, opts for the NBA, and gets drafted.
Because it's very doubtful he'll stay for his last year, so praying the kid erases all doubts next season.

Sorry for the mistake.

I agree Scottie Reynolds was a very good player for Villanova back in the2011 season . That Nova team didn’t have a good season though , as I recall . And , I thought Dwight Hardy outplayed Scottie in their 2 head to head matchups . Hardy did that to quite a few more heralded players that year . He outplayed Marshon Brooks in a Year when Brooks was considered the best guard in the BE . To the point being made , Hardy was on the small size too, and not drafted by the NBA . He really lit it up for us in 2011.

I'm encouraged by all the visits and offers to guys in various classes, but at some point we need to start closing on guys in the primary recruiting class (currently 2019). Four other BE schools already have guys on board. Need to figure out how to get guys to sign on the line that is dotted and get out of the perpetual friends zone with guys coming out of high school. I'm honestly tired of hearing about guys visiting, watching workouts, etc. Close a deal.

Scottie Reynolds was not on the 2010-11 Nova team. He graduated a year earlier.

Fordham , my error. Scottie Reynolds graduated in 2009,a year before Hardy’s outstanding season .It was Corey Fisher that Hardy outplayed that year vs Nova . Hardy more than held his own against PC Guard Brooks in 2010 . Hardy at 6’2” was small for the NBA too. Dwight did have a big year in 2010 for us . He was a exciting player but, only had 2 years here . Norm kind of buried him on the Bench in 2009 . Lavin , to his credit , saw Hardy’s ability and played him extensively ., Thanks for correcting the facts on Reynolds .

Paultz, do you have a sense that we have a really good shot at any of these guys?

Puncher’s chance with Lewis, Aidan and/or Kofi in my opinion. Precious seems destined for an elite school like oft rumored Kansas. Whitney has really blown up & Illini may nab him. Just my gut, but quite preliminary. No clue on Tyrese S. The official visits should give a clearer picture.

Thanks for the update. Pretty much what I figured.
Hoping that we have a better than expected season and some of them decide to sign late
Maybe it would help us
There's a lot of talent in the 2019 class in our backyard
It would be nice to get a share of it

2020 kid, that group not out yet I believe

Hey Tom, I think Jeron Artest is a 2020 recruit. Seems on the rise. Don't think he's currently ranked by 247Sports.

Some 2020 rankings are out and don't include Artest, but yeah at this point the number of rankings and number of recruits within those rankings are pretty limited.

I assumed SJU was just going after him due to his father, which I support and would like to see him at SJU regardless of his ranking. If he's capable of being more than a bench player, then awesome.

Find it very hard to believe there are more than 5 guys better than Lewis and Achiuwa.

247 Sports has Tyrese Samuel at 100% for UCONN, with KS State, South Carolina, TCU, and V-Tech completing his Top 5. FWIW, we are on his list of 22 schools.
