Greg W Enters Portal

Greg W Jr is such  a classy kid. The odds are probably not good but would luv to see him return.

His sad has always seemed like a classy guy on Twitter.

I wonder how much his injury history is limiting his transfer opportunities.

Seems like he always does things the right way. Can't recall him ever saying or doing anything that rubbed me wrong. Great guy to have in the program.

Any criticisms or disappointments I've had are about his durability and lack of aggression/confidence/whatever it is. Never anything to do with his attitude or talent which are both off the charts. Hopefully he completes his college career as a Johnnie.

Like you guys, l wish Greg the best. Hope his senior year is with the Johnnies but if it's not, it sounds like both he and the staff are approaching it in the best way possible.

Can't help myself...got to estimate what % of PT he missed past 2 seasons versus being 'healthy'. Imo, he missed roughly 20% (but not quite) each season, if we calculate he'd play ~28mpg. That's a tangible loss for a team sustain from one of its best player but, given what the guy brings to a team beyond his PT, I'd bet a number of high-majors would have keen interest in signing GW Jr.

Pretty sure Greg & his family are working with staff for him to make his decision promptly enough for staff to react in time to backfill if necessary. Nice to see, doesn't always happen.

I respect that he’s doing it quietly.  No top five list or ridiculous fanfare.

Because he’s a great kid. Everything right about college athletics. It makes so much sense for him to return. Would love for him to return but if not I still hope he does well next year.

Braziller mentioned on Troy’s podcast (excellent listen btw) LSU and Houston as possible destinations. Stated playing closer to home could be impacting this decision. Also said he didn’t see him having the role at those schools as he would at SJU

CMA is main point of communication with Greg and family. This has been handled well on both ends it appears,  no matter the outcome.

LSU and Houston.  Wade and Sampson, two of the dirtiest coaches in basketball.  Value and worth huh? I’m ready to move along.

No I don’t believe he is.

Totally get the allure of LSU & Houston both from a geographic and NCAA Tourney perspective. Having said that, hope Greg decides to return to CMA (who he can trust) and Johnnies as we are going to the tourney next year and would be sweet for Greg  to go there with us!

gotcha.  I’m still disturbed by Gwill’s dad’s comments and the interest in L$U and Hou$ton isn’t changing my mind much.  I’m ok with grabbing somebody else.

Hopefully whether returning,  Houston, LSU, ISU, Miss St, and whoever else, I think it would be a mistake to drag this out too long. Staff may find someone in interim equally appealing or better.

With 4 spots open Paultz, is that really a concern?

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Greg's Dad's comments in my opinion and pretty expected that he'd look at LSU given his family lives in Louisiana.   This kid did every thing right here including he and Caraher starting that scholarship. Why the need to go negative? Jeez!

because when he said he’s leaving to find his value and worth, when he had plenty of minutes here  when not injured,  it certainly is a tell.  It’s a problem with this transfer game to begin with.  I’m not naive to this and nor should others be.  It happens all the time.  Negative? Me?  No, but I’m ok with moving on and trying to get better.
