It's also hard to fully assess Greg without knowing the situation with his back.  Is it a chronic issue likely to cause him problems again next season, or could he possibly start the season with a clean bill of health?
I was thinking about that as well, he's missed multiple games 2 years in a row with back issues.  I've never heard the staff, media, or anyone say if it's something he'll eventually always deal with and may eventually need surgery or if it was just 2 isolated incidents.
that’s because it would be a HIPPA violation for anyone at the University to disclose GW’s medical condition unless he gives written permission.

Based on my experience I can tell you that 2 subsequent back injuries like this are almost never “unrelated.” These are chronic issues that flare up every now and then and take some time to subside.

Also, schools are not an entity covered under HIPAA so they aren’t being quiet because of HIPAA, but purely because it’s not really any of our business.

All of these guys who transferred are outside of our top 3 (Champ, Posh, Wusu). Considering we weren't a Tournament team, they are unlikely to get more minutes than they currently are on a better team. In order to get more minutes they'd likely need to drop down to a mid-major or a power team that's worse than St. John's.

St. John's is likely the best option for most of them. They had a successful year and next year should be better. I'd be very happy to get GW back, I hope he decides to return.

You're not alone, but I personally disagree that Wusu was our 3rd best player.

I admire GW and his caring, involved Dad.
whatever they decide fine by me.
like others I hope he stays -
and doesn’t he have a GF here?

all the best Greg Williams!
And
stay healthy no matter where you play.

If I had to do a Power Ranking at the end of the season I would say 1. Champ 2. Posh 3. Moore 4. Wusu 5. Williams as the top 5. You could for sure argue Williams as #3 or #4 though, it was just the consistency with me.

And I hope he comes back, I think he's for sure a starter, and we know what he gives us and we know he can catch fire at any given time.  I'm just skeptical on if CMA would take him back if he wanted to come back, he's always had that you're either with us or against us mentality, however this is an unknown situation with Covid and the one time transfer so maybe he's more understanding of that.

Plus, Mr. Williams has been a big supporter of CMA .and the program. If GW Jr is reconsidering his move, maybe that changes the coach's mind at the end of the day?

In case it hasn't been clear, I'D LOVE GWILL BACK.

I'd also love ME back because as much as he was streaky, the dude has a deceptively good offensive game when he doesn't force things.

I'd also LOVE Moore back. As volatile as he was, the dude should have been 6th Man of the Year in the BE. That's huge for a first year player.

I highly doubt CMA cares how big of a supporter the parents are to the program when making a decision what's best for his team.  It doesn't matter how all in the parents are if the kid isn't, they are the one's that are playing, if a kid has doubts he wants to be there that's always going to show in their performance, especially if any adversity happens, you want kids that are 100% bought in.

I hear you, except that the large majority of the kids who left played like they would run through a brick wall for CMA. Which makes all the defections that much more baffling: there was no writing on the wall with most of the kids.

That's interesting, because I thought there was writing on the wall for all of them. Some writing just appeared later than others.

The only one that truly shocked me was actually Caraher, because while the writing on the wall was in the most readable font and biggest point size, I thought he was choosing to ignore it and was staying here to do law school and because he had a GF.

I posted in a thread before the season was over I could see up to 5 transfers (this is not including Caraher because he had already transferred).  Only 2 of the transfers really just shocked me was Williams and Cole, everybody else I could see a reason for them wanting to transfer.

I thought Cole would have gave it another year because he started the majority of the year and he was always upbeat and spoke about how he trusted the staff and loved being here during his post game interviews and starting and coming off the bench didn't matter to him.  I thought he would improve his ball handling over the off-season and have a better senior year.

Williams was the absolute shocker to me though. He was team captain, started, team was patient with him on his injuries and always worked him back into the rotation even when they were winning, staff was always complimentary of him and trusted him to help lead the team, dad seemed to love the program, it just made no sense for him to transfer.  I like Williams, but I just don't see a program that's better than St. John's allowing him to have a bigger role than what he had here.  He could probably go down to a mid-major or really bad high major team and possibly be the 1st or 2nd option, but who wants to drop down and average 13-15 PPG on a losing team when you could be on a winning team and average 10-12 PPG.  Or maybe I have it wrong and he wants to go to like a Florida and have lesser of a role and be the 6th or 7th guy for a bigger school and feels like that experience will help him out more in the future.

When I said there was "no writing on the wall", I meant in terms of their effort on the court. I also said  with "most kids". Moore being the exception. Had you quoted my entire post, and not cherry picked, that would have been obvious to all(except maybe you).

Jeez, sorry I glossed over the first part when reading. It wasn't intentional. I am wondering what insult you edited out of your post before I could see it, though.

please explain why you think the athletics Sports Medicine dept at SJU is not an entity bound by HIPPA regulations?
“As a matter of law, the Rule applies only to “covered entities,” which includes health plans, health care clearinghouses, and health care providers that transmit health information in electronic form in connection with covered transactions.”  As SJU does this, the HIPAA rule applies.
Every part of an athletes medical records are part of HIPAA s well as all NCAA and institutional drug testing results, as are records from psychological services and health services. The institution has two specific HIPAA  forms which all athletes complete and they are developed and signed off by University legal counsel. When any athlete is draft eligible in any sport, HIPAA forms are also signed off by athlete and team physicians before any medical information can be released to MLB, NBA, WNBA, MLS teams.
