Good Luck, Shamorie...

Yes he deleted it.

It’s a little different than he was an NBA player because he’d be getting paid to perform for that franchise.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of how Shamorie ended this season but he was playing point guard for a team that had no one who could hit shots.

He gave 3 good years to this school. Was the face of the program the whole time. Sjubb Twitter is objectively a shitty place. We got some bad fans on there, and I hope some of you are reading this. Sometimes you need to know when to shut up

I could be wrong as I haven't read all his Twitter mentions, but I feel like that has to be a really low percent of St. John's fans. Looking at this thread for example, I think it's nearly all positive comments. A little constructive criticism at times, but nothing uncalled for.

I agree a lot of fans have been way out of line towards some of the other players, though.

There are a huge group of trolls on our hashtag on Twitter and Phavre Phan is the ring leader. Him and others have many burner accounts that infest the hashtag saying outrageous things for reactions. If any of you remember, a few years back Phavre Phan claimed that Matt A fought LoVett which obviously did not happen but obviously it can still cause real damage. Matt even had to make a post on Twitter saying how absurd and stupid it was to make such a reckless claim. He's still on there though and many fans seem to find him funny which is troubling. Some joking is fine obviously, but there's a line...the same one Fun crossed countless times. I've made my mistakes as well so I'm not off the hook by any means, but we have to remember that recruits, parents of recruits, handlers, etc. are on the same hashtag. I've questioned Shamorie's drive because he did appear to take some games off...fans have rights to opinions but not to personal attacks. I still consider him a SJ legend and hope he gets to the NBA and sticks. Honestly, he never really endeared himself to fans on social media but in person I did see him giving shoes away and signing autos/taking pictures which was really nice to see. Best of luck to Ponds and sorry if some of my comments were taken the wrong way if he's reading this. Like I said, the shot against Duke will forever be a top memory and he's the best player to come here in a long time.

Sjubb twitter is a clown show. Currently all sucking off Cameron Mack but yet taking shots at Shamorie. Why? Cause ones gonna play for us next year and one isn’t. No appreciation. No perspective.

To be honest I haven't seen Phavre Phan and the rest of those guys trashing the players (but they have towards Zach and others so it wouldn't shock me), but they are REALLY annoying when I try to follow #sjubb. So much spam!
Is there any buzz about Myles Powell entering the NBA draft? He's a junior. I ask because he is at least as good as Ponds.
Right now he seems euphoric with the idea of coming back. But too early to tell

A definite clown show. Grown men taking shots at players on a public forum is incredibly stupid. Those dudes have a head full of rocks.

I haven't followed the hashtag for the past day or so, but I believe you.

I still think it's just a very small (vocal) group of a few guys, though. 95% of St. John's fans want the best for Shamorie, as shown in this thread. Redmen is only slightly more mature than #sjubb.

Seasons over so I don’t feel like pulling punches anymore. Tom in Salem I know you still lurk. You’re the biggest clown of all on twitter. You don’t have the slightest clue what you talking about and you should come out of hiding. No problem insulting me through PMs but when you are proven wrong can’t apologize.

Absolutely. But it’s just tough because you know the players are reading what’s said about them on twitter, goes to their phone immediately.

What I want to know is other schools fan bases are a lot worse and they actually win. So do those players react that same way? Or is our team just made up of a certain player.

Not sure why my post was deleted, but all I was saying was I apologize to Shamorie if any of my comments played a role. Hope they didn't. I questioned his drive and effort at times but it's undeniable he's a SJ legend and we will always remember his shot against Duke. Wish we had him 1 more year. Never really warmed up to fans the way others have like Harrison, Simon, Clark, etc. but I've seen him do a lot in person for fans which goes a long way.

I was also saying the Twitter hashtag needs a major cleanup and the trolls must be dealt with. Maybe the other post got deleted because I mentioned a Twitter name, but let's just say there's a large group of trolls with burner accounts and burners ontop of burners mucking up the hashtag. I can tell you that Cragg, Mullin's wife, Matt A, etc. have noticed and seen this crap. All you can do is block and/or report but unfortunately many troll accounts are still going strong there.

This why I totally hate social media for this reason, total anonymity make cowards into tough guys!

That’s a good point. I know we aren’t the only fan base with a bad twitter fan base, but it does seem like to be more a problem for us than anyone else. But then again maybe I’m just looking for it more with us.

A big difference I see is a lot of these other programs have coaches that are untouchable. Duke fans are the worst but they wouldn’t dare say a word about K. Our fanbase just spews vitriol towards our staff constantly on twitter. And before people jump down my throat I’m not saying it isn’t deserved sometimes, but like Zaun said the line gets crossed often

I would love to see Ponds return but if he can earn some bog money either here or overseas who could blame him,he will find a team that wants his services

He’s gone.

If ever there was a doubt that he was gone, that tweet erased it forever.

#FTIS

For real. That guy is a POS and needs to grow the hell up.

Next question is are these people on Twitter and such even fans of SJU? Maybe they aren't and just riling up a school that they dont like?

Seems like some of the trolls have at least some interest in the program, however it's clear their main purpose is to personally-attack and stir the pot...even with coaches, family members of coaches, players, and NY media. The most shocking part is how many people engage with them and legitimize them instead of blocking/reporting. Even then though they would probably make another burner account. Clearly every fanbase has trolls but never come across any with as many as ours at SJ on Twitter. At least on here there really aren't trolls. Some may make mistakes like me, but I haven't seen any on here trolling for the sake of trolling. I think it's the same 4-5 people with tons of burner accounts blowing up our Twitter. Some of them even have their own alternate "bracket" of SJ Twitter posters and the entire point is to stir the pot personally with everyone with lots of infighting. 90% of their posts are trolling and 10% is about SJ hoops. I think a lot of people are afraid to stick their necks out and condemn them because they're scared of being targeted themselves. SJ fans need to band together. We have a huge and loyal fanbase. We need to be better myself included.
