Yeah, that's what our fan base is expecting....
People whined and bitched about Harrison and Ponds. Not sure what our "fan" base s expecting. Maybe just like to whine.
Every, fan base has folks who "whines" and "bitch" about stuff. Stop being naive or ignorant, and believe this is the only fan base that does it or this fan base does it more than any other fan base.

I think we'd settle for some solid 3 star players who get developed every year and stay 4 years. Then get the occasional 4 star stud to lead the team. No one's asking for anywhere near Zion or the like. I've said I think it's a complete waste of time even recruiting 5 stars at this point unless they specifically hint that they want to stay home and are local.

Totally agree. Do you know how many NCAA wins Nebraska has in their ENTIRE HISTORY?

ZERO. NONE.

Do you know how many NCAA appearances in their TOTAL HISTORY? 7…

Tim Miles in 7 years took them to 1 and to 2 NIT’s and they just ran him out of town. Fair? Unreasonable?

Have no idea but SJU fanbase is hardly the most delusional.

BTW-Nebraska is on the verge of hiring arguably the best available (meaning coach not currently coaching) outside of Thad Matta a program could get right now despite having almost ZERO history.

Why should a recent history or non-history stop a program from striving for significantly better let alone a program with a decent history-SJU? Who made that rule? I don’t understand that argument. Who cares?

Bill Moos’ press conference was unbelievable, he basically said he could care less about recent history. We are Nebraska, we have money, we have facilities and we have a thirsty fan base. I expect to win and compete for B10 titles.

Why else would I take this job? So I can accept mediocre and then use recent history as an excuse?

You can say he is delusional, but going after Hoiberg clearly shows he is not going down without trying.

Never understood the "excuse" about our most recent history (ie, no NCAA Tournament wins in nearly two decades and poor-to-mediocre play) should mean the fan base should be fine settling for a mediocre product. I find it to be a silly argument, which lacks any kinda meat. It sounds defeatist and seems short-sighted.

By the way, Moos also made the move with a coaching change in football back in at the end of the 2017 football season with the firing of Mike Riley and the hiring of Scott Frost. So far, it's paying off with a consensus top 20 recruiting class for '19, as well as several early publications has Nebraska ranked in the top 25 football polls.

I've been one to make the argument about recent history and lowering expectations. To me, it has less to do with the actual results, and more to do with WHY we're getting those results. Personally, I've felt this school has either stagnated or even taken steps back in the past two decades while many other school have taken huge leaps forward in all areas. This isn't the 80s anymore and we still seem to be stuck there. Luckily hiring Mike Cragg seems to be what we needed to pull us out of that era.

The argument is even more preposterous when you think of the people who are making that excuse were absolutely unrelenting in their criticism of Norm Roberts who had to dig out of a much worse situation (remember these people wanted Calipari in here) and had to recruit and coach against Rick Pitino, Jim Calhoun, Jim Boeheim, Bob Huggins/John Belein, etc. Yet they were so demanding of him. But that wasn’t delusional.

But criticizing a man/program who after 4 years in a revamped BE that was tailored made for SJU to succeed (I think people agree coaching against Wojo, Willard, Leitao etc is not the same as coaching against the men I mentioned earlier no disrespect to the current BE coaches) is 32 games under 500 in league play, has never coached on Friday of the BE Tourney and in fact has lost by a combined 102 points in his last 3 BE Tourney losses, has 2 guys on his staff that literally do NO recruiting and had the Slice fiasco is somehow off limits or better yet shows how delusional a fan base we have because SJU has not been to an Elite 8 since 1999…

Yeah but the fan base creates a cesspool…

Yeah make total sense.

His steal at the end of the Georgetown win this year will go down as one of my favorite plays. Best of luck to him in the future

Agree 100%. Such a strategy would also eliminate the insanely unrealistic expectations that the fanbase and sports writers have for the team and its coach. I like idea of developing 4 star talent into multi year college players. We would just have to retain these players and encourage them to stay, rather than see them transfer to Texas Tech like Tariq Owens.

Anyway, Cam Mack and Nate Tabor are coming. Perhaps they won't be as good as Shamorie or Harrison, but they're very talented, and a good look for the future.

Is Tabor still coming?

Good luck Shamorie and thanks for staying home and going to your hometown school. Hope you fulfill your basketball dreams at the next level!

Kid was a warrior. Felt badly for him this year. Lack of another ball handler, no structure and general lack of discipline hurt him.

Should have been guided to be the best Shamorie not another Steph Curry.

In any case, will always root for him and hope he gets drafted

Best of luck to an all time great Johnnie! Hoping you have along NBA career we will be rooting for one our own!

So would Ponds trying to win games rather than impress pro scouts. Mullin put in a system dependent on guys being unselfish, a system I am on record as saying I don’t believe will work at the college level. Unfortunately, most of our team took the freedom to mean I can play for me. I root for SJU to win games, not for guys to make the pros. I realize I am a majority of maybe one and I certainly hope Ponds succeeds but will always feel his focus, and others, this year was on getting a pro contract not on winning games.

Not sure I understand this post. Are you criticizing Ponds for being too selfish? Because I distinctly recall posters throughout the season criticizing Ponds for just the opppsosite. They said he was too passive and was hunting for assists rather than his shot. I guess that’s selfish insofar as the team arguably needed him to score more rather than facilitate at times. Perhaps that’s your point.

For my part, I thought Ponds would have been better this year (my expectations were very high, particularly after the VCU game). That said, I think the lack of a big man and adepth really hurt him. I also think the lack of consistent outside shooting from the team limited Shamorie’s productivity. Without any consistent inside or outside threat, teams could focus their attention on Ponds and double him. This often frustrated Shamorie and appeared to physically wear him down as the season progressed.

Can't thank you for being a true New Yorker/ fellow Brooklynite. Love your game . i hope you get drafted and go on to have a great career. God bless and good luck.
