Another logical disconnect. You're saying that to be competitive the Coach is deciding to play players that make them less competitive because they cost more money. Using that false presumption begs a question, does Repole want to win or does he just want to see his shiny toy on TV?

At the end of the day KR is one of the top players on the team who is underperforming to this point. CRP knows he is one of the top players on the team. That's why he's giving him time to work out any issues he's having now before conference play. Players with far lower upsides would not have such a long leash.

FWIW I have confidence that KR will continue to improve and I also feel a lot of folks don't understand his game. The main thing that is puzzling me with his game is his FT shooting. The rest is just working into a new system.

Also FWIW through 7 games last year KR was averaging more TOs and less Assists than he is this year. He was scoring a lot more points but on that team he had to since they had zero other options. In theory he doesn't need to score as much this year with the much improved weapons around him.

The Smith issue was not related to Kadary's minutes and that one I find very discomforting but can only hope it gets worked out.
How was Smith issue not related? He was seemingly benched for sloppy play/decision making when u can argue he has been better than Richmond who leads team in mins.

Per posts he was benched for attitude, or at least that's what I am taking from what I've read. Seems like an ego play for CRP, not a tactical one.

The play that got him benched was not catching a ball that went out of bounds because he tried to do it with one hand. His nonchalance was a huge part of the problem

Still has that hitch

in his shot.

Not only that but , let’s face it , Richmond has played for 2 HOF Coaches, Boeheim and Pitino and1 newer Coach Shaheen Holloway who is a very good Coach on his way to making his mark up the ladder .

None of the 3 seemed able to fix or improve
any of his skills that need work . As far as we can tell at this point .
He’s gotten a big payday but , you can take it to the bank , he’s not going to be in the NBA next year . Maybe G league .

So far , he hasn’t delivered any evidence that he’s the difference maker on this team . Frankly , he’s been a pretty big disappointment .
Poor handle , no outside shot , slow in the lane with no burst to rid a defender.

Plus , with Richmond , Smith , Luis on the Court together , there is only 1 Basketball for them to share . Their skills are not complimentary to each other .

What made Pitino think he was going to fix Kadary when Holloway and Boeheim couldn’t ?

Kadary was first team all Big East last year and the main reason Hall deserved to dance so don't think Holloway would complain about what he got from him. As far as NBA potential, really don't see how that matters one lick with respect to his value to our team. Lots of players who were excellent college players and key to their teams last year such as Armando Bacot, Daniss Jenkins & Tristan Newton are either in the G League or warming their team's bench with no PT this year; completely different game.
He's not a shooter but that doesn't mean he can't be a huge difference maker for us; he's had a couple of bad games recently, but a little early to start writing him off imho. Does need to tighten up his passing and dribbling and get on the floor after loose balls, but I believe he will - time will tell.

That’s what’s so bizarre. if you were to watch a replay of the seton Hall game last year where the Johnnies were blown out, Kadary looked like a completely different player. He is no where near what he was last year and in prior years.
I agree. The explanation might be that he had to be the go to guy at SH but not so here. I do like his playmaking.

If we beat K-State by 15, I think it’ll wash away the bad taste in everyone’s mouths.
KState looks to be struggling mightily... they have played an awful schedule so far... losing 2 so far to LSU and Liberty...

With tip being essentially being 10:30 for them... I will be shocked if this game is within 20 points with 5 mins left...

Yes and we played UConn close all 3 games last, but guess what? We lost all 3 also.

Time to stop with the well at least we played them close.
We gotta start winning these games.
I agree, but that wasn't my point. In terms of making the NCAA Tournament, those losses won't keep us out as long as we perform well in conference play. Unlike the early loss to Michigan last year, which turned out to be a terrible loss.

Yeah but they were preseason ranked 9th in the Big 12 and did land some big name portal guys. I'm not going to count them out, and some of these portal-laden teams take longer to gell. You also know they'll have a lot to play for when facing us. It won't be a cake walk if we play like we did against Georgia

For the entire end of the game? An entire 6 minutes? Then pitino's a fool. A fool who cost us a basketball game.

We have a tendency to play up and down according to our competition so I wouldn’t be so confident

Too early to jump to this conclusion MG. We soundly beat the 5 opponents we should have beaten. Georgia is not a bad team and we just had a bad game imho; very frustrating loss I agree.

Very valid points about last year’s Richmond . Where is this years ? So far , missing in action .
If you recall , Kadary had some issues with the Hall last year and , I believe he was a no show for a game or 2 . By no show , I mean he wasn’t with the team and missed games .
Holloway to his credit.didn’t seem to throw him under the bus but , I doubt Shaheen was delighted by Richmond ‘s disappearance .,
A negative to any team chemistry .

This year , Pitino using Repole $$$$ pried Richmond away from SH . Think Shaheen was devastated ? Doubtful .
Another Red Flag appears to be Pitino questioning Kadary ‘s conditioning ? What the heck !
He had Richmond all summer and early fall to get him into Pitino shape . What’s the problem ?
Attitude ?
Richmond is among the new breed of College BB players ..Nomads who move for Cash . Nothing wrong with that , except now you have 23 -24 year old professionals who may or may not , be interested in Team performance .

Richmond was the straw that stirred the drink at SH last year . At St John’s he’s not , at least so far .
Smith and Richmond might not be comfortable playing with each other . They both want the ball and the offense to flow through them . Not each other . It’s a question ,, more than a statement .

And , Pitino has seemingly forgot his commitment to Wilcher that he waxed about during the off season .
Wilcher has to be teed of too ! He was suppose to use this year as a stepping stone to his future as a Pro.

Sure , he hasn’t set the World on fire but , he’s still got more potential to develop than Richmond or Smith , who are what they are at this point in their careers .As the NBA Scouts know about them .

Jenkins , if he had 1 more year of eligibility would be the best player on this team and would have had Rick’s confidence to run the show .
I don’t get the idea Rick feels that way about , either Smith or Richmond .
And , let me say this , in my opinion Jenkins is a better player than , either Smith or Richmond ..

Time will tell Sly. I'm not ready to throw Kadary, Smith or any of our players under the bus after 7 games. Will be interesting to revisit these posts later in the year.

That's why he was taken out at that time but I read someone here say he reacted badly on the way out which I assume pissed of CRP and led to the situation getting worse.

Jenkins would be competing with Ayo for PT on this team.

I mean, you're entitled to your opinion. You could be of the opinion that Mullin is a better coach than Pitino too, if you want.
