Could also just be Pitino having unwarranted faith in Kadary and/or wanting him to play through this spell to be better by the new year. He also never took Jenkins out of games, it reminds me of a similar dynamic.Really? Richmond had an objectively awful game vs Georgia, and yet Pitino kept him out there for 35 minutes. Are you telling me that there was no one on the bench better than him- say, Smith, who sat for the last 13 minutes of the second half? For that matter, Richmond has been underwhelming in general so far this season, and yet no one on the roster has received more minutes than him. Pitino’s already making excuses for him. “He just needs to get in bettter shape.” You cannot convince me that this has absolutely nothing to do with Richmond’s NIL.
Oh, I agree that he wants this team to revolve around Richmond. I just happen to think pressure to justify his NIL is playing into that.Could also just be Pitino having unwarranted faith in Kadary and/or wanting him to play through this spell to be better by the new year. Since you will live if I tell you, I will. I don’t know you but don’t want you to die. Please finish your thought. Are you saying because a donor funded a player's nil, a coach like Pitino would play that player to keep the donor happy even if it hurt the team's chance of winning? The donor gives his money so the team can win. He has no relationship with, and does not personally know, or ideed, care about the player. His sole motivation for giving substantial dollars is to enable the team to win. You think Repole would be upset if Pitino does not play or start Richmond? You have any idea how many horses Repole buys for seven figures and then dumps when they do not produce? Can you give us the logic of your position? I would live to hear it.
I don't think its the same as pro sports though. It's not like it's a long-term deal and he may be on the trading block, or we're stuck with him for a few years. Its all a very short-term equation. I really don't think NIL has much to do with it. Especially since Kadary was highly touted and very well known by everyone.Oh, I agree that he wants this team to revolve around Richmond. I just happen to think pressure to justify his NIL is playing into that.
He had absolutely no backup for Jenkins. That's not the case this season.Could also just be Pitino having unwarranted faith in Kadary and/or wanting him to play through this spell to be better by the new year. He also never took Jenkins out of games, it reminds me of a similar dynamic.

Yes and we played UConn close all 3 games last, but guess what? We lost all 3 also.We lost to 13th rank Baylor on a last second 3 and by 3 points to a 6-1 Georgia team. That is far from disastrous, especially at this point in this season. If we lose to Harvard on Saturday, now that would be disastrous.
+10000000000Just back from an amazing trip to Baha Mar. I feel like we're kinda past the point where I can add anything with a wrapup of the last few days, so let me just say this: this thread is insane! I mean, I've been here a while and I know how game threads can get a little crazy during the game but holy hell some of you need to be medicated. Never seen this much of an overreaction to one loss, especially in a game that never should have been played in the first place.
Yes, they sucked on Sunday. No sugarcoating it, the effort was terrible. But they were playing their 3rd game in 4 days at 11 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING. Just colossal stupidity scheduling this game, completely unnecessary. But they played well/great in 3 of the 4 games they played last week (including NM). They showed that at their best they can play with anyone in the country. Yes there are flaws and yes, the shooting will come and go, but when they are not playing their third game in four days AT 11 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING, the defense is absolutely stifling. To see all these posters on the verge of hari kiri because of one bad loss- and I'm talking about the one who know better, not the ones who pleasure themselves when we lose- is really disappointing.
This team is really good. They have some issues to work out (Kadary Richmond, please call your office). But this last week, warts and all, showed how good they can be. Cheer up you miserable motherf***ers!

It's more than just 1 loss, it's also the Alabama game where we blew an 18pnt lead. It's how we lost in double OT when we lost on a last second 3 when the sob's didn't start the clock on time.Just back from an amazing trip to Baha Mar. A bit harsh don't you think. I guess you have forgotten that three teams from the Big East made the tourney last year and the Johnnies were not one of them. If you look at things realistically, how many more quality wins may we come by in the OOC schedule that will boost our resume? And lets not forget, it was not our conference schedule, the 7 straight wins at seasons end, beating Creighton or getting to the semis that kept us out of the Dance, it was our OOC showing that did.Just back from an amazing trip to Baha Mar. It was definitely unfair of them to make ST John’s play at 11 but not Georgia. The hour difference def helped Georgia.Just back from an amazing trip to Baha Mar. Georgia practiced 4 days in a row at 11 ! I think this was a bad schedule rather than a true look at our team. Lets go Redmen!!It was definitely unfair of them to make ST John’s play at 11 but not Georgia. The hour difference def helped Georgia.
Is Georgia a better team????Also remember that Michigan & BC were home games. We have two neutral court loses vs better teams. As long as Georgia remains a top 100 team that will be a quad 2 game.
There’s no disconnect. Pitino and the coaching staff made it clear to the major benefactors of the program what they need in order to be competive. In this case, the staff concluded that, among other things, they needed Kadary Richmond, or someone of his ilk, at a price tag of around $1 million. Repole stepped up very publicly, to the point where he basically “announced” Richmond’s recruitment to SJU before the school even did. So now everyone has to defend the expenditure. It’s not personal, it’s business.
Ok. But would it be a massive underachievement given our history this millennium and the fact that we're the worst Big East franchise not named Depaul? Me thinks not.I would not be happy with this team “squeaking into Dayton.” To me, that would be a massive underachievement given the talent in this squad and the financial commitment invested by the school and donors.
Exactly.Enough of the BS excuses, we should have beaten Georgia and had opportunities, but kept turning ball over at crunch time. Move on and get the next one. Resorting to alibis and playing the victim is embarrassing.
