Georgia, Sun., Nov. 24, 11am, CBSSN

24 turnovers from Georgia is what will keep us going. RJ hitting the glass like has been with 3-4 other guys doing the same + the defense could make us great. The potential is there to win this conference.

I hope we learned a lesson. I think Wilcher did...he got abused physically and he showed signs of meeting that challenge. I think we beat Georgia 8 out of 10 times. The loose balls...the physicality....valuable lessons from a sloppy Georgia team -- who looks well on their way to being on the right side of the bubble.
I agree that we probably beat them 8 out of 10 times. The problem is that we don’t play them 10 times. We only play them once and it didn’t go well.

Wanting a team to perform better is as you say most certainly not asinine.
But when they're are posts as facts about NIL, players refusing coach to do things all to get clicks when they are FACTUALLY incorrect and spreading misinformation about young men they've likely never met yes..i believe that's asinine. If you think my stance is wrong we can absolutly agree to disagree
No, I have no basis for knowing or being privy to those aspects, as you are. I certainly defer to you on that. You either know or don't know those thigs, and if you don't, you shouldn't be speaking about them. I thought your comment was broader and extended to the performance issues and discussion.

I can understand how my post was interpreted that way, my bad for not being clearer. Everyone has a right to voice opinions, frustrations ect....what makes sports great. But I guess im just old school when I fail to see the satisfaction in posting damaging and factual incorrect information just for clicks about young people, paid or not. Ok my old man get off my lawn posts are done...wishing everyone a safe beautuful holiday

I’m looking forward to the game against Kansas State. The Harvard game won’t really tell us anything.

I’m still very bullish about the team. We’ve got defense, size and athleticism.

We are clearly a good team if we were able to stay in a game against a bubble team like Georgia and lose by just three, and honestly still should’ve won, despite shooting 2-21 from 3pt, 31% FG, 15 turnovers and bad games from Kadary + RJ. The game was horrible to watch, especially in person. Very sluggish looking and unfocused.

But I do think it brings up some questions:
Was our prior three point shooting for real or an aberration?

Will we be able to cut down on turnovers? Can we improve our free throws?

Is the lack of energy a pattern or just an aberration from playing three games in four days, one at 11am?

When will Kadary get comfortable? Can he reach another level of motor, get in better shape, and see some gains from his worked on jump shot?

Is Wilcher and Dunlap ready to be BE caliber players?

Of course it is! Look at the left photo Repole tweeted out. That's not an accident. Nor is it an accident that Richmond has logged more minutes than any other player on the roster.

Can you explain the logic behind this belief? You really think Pitino would lose games to play a nil player if someone else would increase the chances of winning. ?
Pitino is here to win another NCAA before he retires. He is driven. He hates losing. He could care less what a guy is getting in nil.

I disagree with your assertion that Pitino “could care less what a guy is getting in NIL.” He’s on the record numerous times saying that NIL is now driving the college game. He cares a LOT about NIL. He spends an inordinate amount of time courting NIL donors like Repole and I am sure he is under pressure to demonstrate that they are not throwing their money down the drain. By all accounts, Repole just spent around $1 million acquiring Richmond and I have zero doubt that is factoring into the playing time.

I think we all forget where this program has been the past 25+ years. We are in a much better place this year than any in the last 25 years. No need to sound the alarm bells. We have good players on the team and will make some noise once all our cylinders are clicking. Lots of bball left. We are no longer the pushovers we once were and no team in the country is happy to play us.

You are confusing iddues. Of course he wants more nil to recruit players. But playing games to win is his driving force. He is going to put the best team out there and would never ever play a lesser players because he had been paid more nil.

I don’t see many guys hitting panic stage, rather just expressing frustration blowing two recent opportunities. I get that in light of falling short last year for Dance ticket. We blew the Baylor game, bounced back v mediocre Virginia and then played poorly v ordinary, but spirited Georgia. The natural outcome is disappointment and in my case having a sense of urgency to beat the last decent ooc team, Kansas State. No excuses, we must roll into BE season taking care of business with some degree of momentum.

I also think Kadary merits criticism for sub par, casual play of late. Hopefully SJU earns a decent return on its NIL inve$tment in him sooner than later. College ball has a relatively short season, don’t squander too many opportunities along the way. Have to trust Pitino to get this group cooking and not leave a Dance bid to chance.

Not sure "respectfully" applies to "asinine" but so be it.

This is a fan board. Everyone here supports the team. But, pointing out obvious issues and flaws is part of the overall "thing". Particularly in this era of paid student athletes.

Just because someone says that KR or BD or others are underperforming doesn't equate to those people saying the kids are not good kids. Or that they are not worthy of support. And, pointing out that the weekend experience did not positively affect (as hoped) end of season prospects is just common sense. This team seems to be a good team, has much more talent than past iterations and should indeed be playing tourney basketball in the end. But they have to play better. They have to hustle more. They have to take care of the basketball better. And, they have to play more coherently as a team.

Very little of what I have seen posted is either asinine or factually incorrect. They are basically mostly obvious observations, on a fan site, that are fodder for fan discussion.
Excellent post.

I understand concerns about the selection committee after last year when there was no east coast representation. There are five new members including Stu Jackson (WWC and formerly Big East), Lee Reed (Georgetown) and Brooklyn raised Irma Garcia (Manhattan). The crap show from last year is not happening this season. Eastern teams from the Big East will have advocates in the room. They also adopted an NCAA Evaluation Tool and other evaluation metrics. Zach, Roger and other in the local hoops media who closely follow the johnnies should have better insight into these measures as the season unfolds. Last year's selection debacle was a learning experience for all of them.

Throw in an extra at-large, and a likely chance that number of bid-stealers reverts to the mean, and the door is wide open.

Wilcher has not done anything to justify more time. He was terrible last three games and he is not a pg. why Smith did not play last half is a mystery to me.
I posted this in reply to a Tom in Salem post: My guess is Pitino was pissed off at Smith for allowing the shot clock to expire at the end of the first half. I think Smith confused the shot clock with the game clock which had 1.8 seconds more on it. Just a guess on my part.

Curious... would say most posts on here don't view Georgia in a favorable light... and don't consider them to be a "good" team....

Where do you feel a "mediocre" / "ordinary" College bball team falls in terms of rankings...?

I personally would slice this into thirds...
Top100 = a Good team for me/capable of winning any game.... Top 30 of that- we are talking a very good team/potentially ranked....
100-200= "OK" team...
200+= Losing to these teams is a resume hurting loss

Right now... New Mexico is 53 and Georgia is 56 in KenPom... will be interesting to see where things shake out in 2 months time, but i don't feel Georgia will be a Michigan/BC level loss for us...

Asa Newell will only get better. Ga has a deep front line.
