Respectfully most these post are either asinine or factually incorrect.
1) All, and i mean ALL of the rotation players except one could have gotten more NIL elsewhere.
2) Smith is/was chasing coaching, PT and winning... follow his coaches.
3) Did some of you think they were going undefeated? They lost an all time heartbreaker and then played a poor game, couldn't hit a shot after a long trip vs a team i've been posting for weeks would be better and a bigger challenge than most anticipated.
4) I'll agree they need to improve, and they will. A player or two is performing below "exprctations" but the season is 1/4 through.. let this play out. It's a good team. It's a flawed team. It's 10000% a tournament team. It's not nor was it before this trip a top 10 team. The kids on other teams and the ones i deal with noticed the Zuby chants after the Baylor game. These posts of how bad or disappointing these kids are is beyond silly. This is a really good basketball team with really good kids

Unpopular thought I suspect. When CMA would play an entire OOC schedule against NEC teams no one was happy. And the teams were unprepared for Big East play. Now we go down here (at the airport) to play three power conference teams and because we lost two of three people are losing it. Frankly, Georgia is not awful, or great, and the game yesterday is not going to move the needle at all with the guys who use a Magic 8 ball to decide the NCAA teams. Win or loss.

On the other hand as the board experts are pointing out these games showed a lot of the teams current issues. Well before conference play. I am much less certain than others that none of them can be addressed and improved upon.

Didn’t include your thoughts on coaching the last year and 1/4. Curious your take on that.

Only issue with your post is, as well informed and close to program as you are, somehow don’t think you are wagering you’re mortgage on that 10000% tournament guarantee.

I fully expect 1 poster still standing by Selection Sunday March 16, 2025

The battle has begun

Odds

RedStormNC 3-1 currently stuck in Bahamas prison so no-one can get to him

NCJohnnie,Dinkins,Mattia Brothers 4-1 they have a Carolina Alliance they last till almost the end

Mean Gene 5-1 People scared of him because he's Mean

ESPKEN 6-1 Gotta keep the guy who remembers the last St Johns NCAA win around for awhile

Monte and Eric 6.9-1 The numbers speak for themselves

Amase-SJUDave 7-1 as posters kill each other it's a race to the death by them to video document it

JerseyShoreJohnny 8-1 Kevin lasts a long time because he has no enemies and everyone rsvp'd for his BBQ next year

Beast of East 9-1 he survives a while because Ledlum has been his bodyguard since the welcome Pitino dinner

Paultz 10-1 since moving to Florida full time escapes the full time local nut jobs at games

Lawman 11-1 No full time practicing attorney makes the top 10 but these are still great odds. Seth Greenberg could be his wild card to strategize to be the sole survivor
The Carolina Alliance just broke RedStormNC out and strengthened the Alliance to become The Carolina Coalition! We will all make it to the end together!

Last thing(s)....
1) Most(some) of you know my Deivon connections...he's a competitive kid and please don't believe everything as facts.
2) I haven't seen as many SJ games as i'd like to but Rick is as good as it gets. I know(read here)some have questioned a few things( only one i agree with is having ppl on line during Zuby FT).. he's old school and plays the long game. In talking with other coaches they are still in awe of his in game adjustments.
3) Only thing i'd bet my mortgage on is my wife will yell at me today for something, i'll get a call from some kid wanting more money, i'll get a call from a coach complaing that kid wants more money and my day will end with a JW Black on the rocks!
This is a good team. They will be a tournament team. You guys are a great passionate fan base so I get it all. You also are lucky to have a fair informed beat reporter in Zack and some really good fans with podcasts who are close to
program. Ultimately i'm not an insider nor however are a few ppl i get fowarded posts and misinformation from.

Not sure "respectfully" applies to "asinine" but so be it.

This is a fan board. Everyone here supports the team. But, pointing out obvious issues and flaws is part of the overall "thing". Particularly in this era of paid student athletes.

Just because someone says that KR or BD or others are underperforming doesn't equate to those people saying the kids are not good kids. Or that they are not worthy of support. And, pointing out that the weekend experience did not positively affect (as hoped) end of season prospects is just common sense. This team seems to be a good team, has much more talent than past iterations and should indeed be playing tourney basketball in the end. But they have to play better. They have to hustle more. They have to take care of the basketball better. And, they have to play more coherently as a team.

Very little of what I have seen posted is either asinine or factually incorrect. They are basically mostly obvious observations, on a fan site, that are fodder for fan discussion.

Just not a Final 4 team as some on this board have alluded.

Wanting a team to perform better is as you say most certainly not asinine.
But when they're are posts as facts about NIL, players refusing coach to do things all to get clicks when they are FACTUALLY incorrect and spreading misinformation about young men they've likely never met yes..i believe that's asinine. If you think my stance is wrong we can absolutly agree to disagree

My post about the NIL affecting coaches decisions about PT was my opinion not fact. Only way would be a fact is if I had a conversation about it with Rick and even then I doubt he would answer that honestly. But never the less, I have not spoken to Rick since that one time in the urinal in his brother in laws bar. But I absolutely believe NIL is a factor in PT decisions.

Let’s not be naive, the problem with losing to Georgia is this. When selection Sunday arrives and the at large bids are being decided the Power Five guys on the committee may be pointing out that sure, the Johnnies have have had a decent Big East record but how did they perform against a middle of the SEC pack Georgia team? That’s why the SEC deserve 7 bids and the Big East three.
Bingo!!!!!

Agreed Silly, this is why we now need to finish top 3 in the league with wins over UConn and Marquette. Otherwise, we’ll have to win the Big East Tournament.

I wouldn’t rule out playing Saturday night in the BET if we ever figure out grabbing a defensive rebound when it matters most.
24 turnovers from Georgia is what will keep us going. RJ hitting the glass like has been with 3-4 other guys doing the same + the defense could make us great. The potential is there to win this conference.

I hope we learned a lesson. I think Wilcher did...he got abused physically and he showed signs of meeting that challenge. I think we beat Georgia 8 out of 10 times. The loose balls...the physicality....valuable lessons from a sloppy Georgia team -- who looks well on their way to being on the right side of the bubble.

Yesterday’s game will absolutely matter come selection Sunday. That’s why the committee rewards teams that play and win these OOC games.
