Georgia, Sun., Nov. 24, 11am, CBSSN

I know the loss is tough and a win to cap off this weekend would have been exactly what we needed but we need to stop acting like Georgia is bad. They just took a very competitive Marquette team down to the wire the day before and now Marquette will be top 10 this week.

Because it being on a neutral court, this game will be probably be a Q1 loss or at worse a Q2 loss. That’s not what is going to make or break us come Selection Sunday. Our losses to Michigan and BC last year I think were Q3 and we had no wins against at large teams besides Creighton.

Do well in the Big East and we will make the tournament where anything can happen.

It depends on what you mean by well. 12-8 with one win against Creighton at home and an 8-2 OOC record will get us the same result as last year.

I root for the Johnnies as hard as anyone and am not ready to throw the season away by any means, but let's be real. Marquette beat Georgia comfortably (by 11), no way they took them down to the wire. Today was a bad loss, period end of story.

You literally looked at the box score and didn’t watch the game. Marquette had a 1 point lead at half and with 5 minutes left Marquette was winning 69-66. Marquette made shots at the end and Georgia didn’t.

And they won going away like we should have. The score at halftime is completely irrelevant as we saw in the Baylor game. They factually did not take them down to the wire.

There is no disagreement that we should have won but to act like the season is over because of this loss is disingenuous.

A 1 possession game at the final media timeout to me is a close game but one team closed and one didn’t. They hung with them for 36 minutes but sure let’s act like Georgia is Incarnate Word and our season is over.

Getting into semantics here...

Down to the wire= final possessions determine outcome (say last 30 seconds... fouling and FTs can make a wire game be a 6pt win)

1 possession game under 5 mins to go = they hung with a Top 10 team. They are good. They aren't a "Bad team" the majority of the Board is making them out to be.

Will revisit come Feb.

I understand Lawman. Mark my words, if we have a good record but not enough quality wins the committee will pass us over as they did last year. We need to go 5-3 against Creighton, Xavier, Marquette and UConn. With wins over each of them , sweeping one , and avoid anymore bad losses.
Don't see it.

I haven’t seen anyone say Georgia is a bad team. They may even be a bubble team, but by losing today we could also become a bubble team which was not what we were hoping for from this trip. More importantly, there were lots of worrisome things about the way we played that hopefully we will get worked out over the next month.
