Georgia, Sun., Nov. 24, 11am, CBSSN

Smith was 1-7 from the floor with some harsh deliveries, but IMO we needed a floor general out there to facilitate in the final 3 minutes.
There was something more than looking for shooting there. Kadary was 1-8 and Sim 1-6 and Smith you know is at least going at full steam. He only played 24 minutes and most of that in the first half and did not look happy on the bench.

Eating the ball while the shot clock expires and losing the ball out of bounds receiving an inbounds pass may have contributed to that. Things you can’t do when you are running the point. Maybe coach was making a point. Maybe

I don't think we're in any danger of missing the tournament unless multiple important guys get hurt and/or there's a team mutiny against each other or the staff. But our probable range of outcomes in terms of seeding shifted in the wrong direction bigtime on this trip
Take nothing for granted, everyone thought we were in good position last year, what happened?
Hell, SHU had a better resume then us, what happened with them?

The committee screwed us over.

Yeah, I am really sour over this trip, and I won't apologize for it.

Did not want Kadary here when we got him. Hate being right.
I double that, have not wanted to just beat it to death but I raised concerns when it was first reported we were chasing Richmond. Just as I have raised concerns about Pitino. His credentials speak for themselves but he had been out of the college game for a good while, Iona notwithstanding. But he has done little in the year+ he has been here to feel that his name is still synonymous with a HOF coaching performance. Still time to prove me wrong but I just don’t see it happening.
I don’t want to speculate but his love of Richmond is baffling to me; and since I don’t believe anything he says in public, I won’t wonder why someone who is playing poorly because he is out of shape is getting so much time and allowed to stay on the court through so much shoddy, uninspired play. Never mind getting on the floor, the next time Richmond even energetically bends down for a loose ball will be his first. Smith in the doghouse, IF he is, is equally baffling to me.
So another season, 6 games in, with great expectations but opportunities lost and very few questions answered.

I hear you and acknowledge those were bad mistakes but don't believe it warrants him sitting all that time when neither Kadary or Sim were doing anything at all to help us win the game. Too expensive a point to make imho.

College basketball now like the pros because of NIL. It is naive to think the NIL doesn’t affect PT.

Richmond is not an offensive firepower. He had 14 games in career w/ 20 points. 11 of them were last year.

He's got great tools but we can't expect him to carry a team when he is lacking shooting
Kadary is lacking in so many facets of the game it is mind boggling he was so highly compensated in the NIL market. The kid plays without personality or spirit. It may be his natural demeanor but all my doubts about his value to the team have thus far been confirmed. My hope was for second shot at AJ Storr a similar money player.
The season is still long but this is not a good look for Pitino who promised to transform KR into an NBA player. It will give opposing coaches ammunition when the issue of development is a decision factor.
Bottom line is the team needs to win every game before Big East play to regain fan confidence.

Honestly when just about every player not named Zuby playing horribly, turning the ball over, unable to make outside shots and giving Georgia many 2nd shots, it's hard to blame this on Rick. This game was about as poorly played as our play-out game in Dayton vs Az State in Mullin's last game.

It seemed that every time we stole the ball we gave it right back to them.

I wasn't nearly as uoset as many of you rightfully were after the Baylor loss. Even if we bitch about the refs, THREE Georgia players, including their best player fouled out.

Once again, a deep hole, and we won't sniff the top 25 for quite a while if at all.

Just unacceptable to get the game we got out of these guys today. Some credit to Georgia they defended us well all day and pushed us around and unfortunately we just let it happen other than Zuby

A lot a blame to go around but mostly thinking about Sim and Kadary tonight.

Sim has a smooth jumper, but as a sophomore, it has been made very clear to us that he is raw in terms of actually creating himself a shot. That’s a huge bummer. I wanted his offensive development to be a little further along by this point. Was really counting on him to be a key piece this year

Kadary was bad today. I understand how, when playing well, he is valuable but today was just a stink show from him. It’s a lot harder to take his nonchalant demeanor when he’s lazily going after loose balls, getting the ball knocked away from him with relative ease (I mean I swear sometimes the AIR is the culprit with him) and getting beat on defense and outworked for rebounds.

I also don’t understand not using Prey. Vince might just not have it defensively against athletic opponents. Prey needs reps and quick

It’s a long season but this was a buzzkill trip

The problem is that the selection committee may not value our Q1 wins being only conference wins. Creighton losing badly to Nebraska takes some luster off of a top 3 BE team too.
Absolutely. 9-2 OOC and 13-7 BE at a minimum to feel good.

So a coach has no responsibility to get players ready to play? Because others have pointed it out and I will repeat it, this team got out tougher by Baylor second half forward and pretty much the whole game today. Keeping players on the court through lack of effort is 100% on the coach.
Teams have poor shooting nights, but even with that, had St. John’s even made a reasonable amount of the effort plays, they win going away.
