Georgia, Sun., Nov. 24, 11am, CBSSN

I understand Lawman. Mark my words, if we have a good record but not enough quality wins the committee will pass us over as they did last year. We need to go 5-3 against Creighton, Xavier, Marquette and UConn. With wins over each of them , sweeping one , and avoid anymore bad losses.
We need good wins, no argument from me. Have to be in the top 4 of the league with the wins and record to get there.

Absolutely nothing from the bench. So much for all the depth that everyone said we had.

Richmond is such a disappointment. Pitino disappointing with the use of substitutions. What was up with Smith?
This was not about the bench…this was all about a bad shooting night against a team that will get decimated against any team that is making shots…we should have won the game irrespective of our poor shooting but we couldn’t overcome very poor game by Richmond and to lesser extent Wilcher

Man, I am so damn tired of all excuses for why we loose: The refs have it in for us, the fans don't donate enough, crowds aren't vocal enough, we play too many early cupcakes, we don't play enough early cupcakes, we don't have enough high school players, we have too many players from the transfer portal, CA is too hot, the cheerleaders are ugly, blah, blah, blah, blah.

It's early, so I hope this is just a bump in the road, but I'm telling you all right now, if we have a crap season, there's not a doubt in my mind that it's Karma saying "va fangool" after the school hired an Italian coach, and then went ahead and cancelled Columbus Day.

Just finished watching in dvr. Very disappointing. You can’t lose to a team that fouls out 3 starters and who turned the ball over about 25 times. Putrid first half followed by shoddy second half. My takes, fwiw:

I don’t get KR. Either he’s not the same player this year or we’ll soon hear “ he’s playing hurt”. Very inconsistent. Very sloppy with the ball. And what’s with every free throw off the front end? So far, not impressed. Gas had 1 good game.

Love Scott but his 3 point shooting today killed us. Does a lot of good things. Off night.

RJ takes as much as he gives at least today.

Their guards too often had easy lanes to the basket. Our guards missed a lot of bunnies again and were pretty weak to the basket.

They out toughed and out bullied us.

No one seemed to want to step up. Need someone to be a leader on the court. I think it has to be Smith but he has to be on The court and he has to want it.

If Brady can’t hit any of the wide open 3s he had today (at least 4) he has no business being out these as much. Yeah he has energy and does some good things but those empty trips are killers.

Zuby was terrific and we wasted his effort.

No burn for Prey. I think he would have helped Zuby with rebounding.

It’s a long season but 1-2 down there is a disappointment. The resume building exercise hadn’t worked out. Luckily a majority of conference games will be quad 1 or 2.
Don't get what's up with Richmond either. It's like he's lathering his hands with butter before game time. He can't hold on to the ball, dribbles into traffic, no awareness so get's the ball poked away from behind, etc. So far all the good things he's done have been negated by all the bad. Hope he gets his head in the game before BE play.

We talked a lot over the spring and summer about the roster construction and lack of shooting potentially being a problem. Today those concerns proved warranted.

Pitino mentioned benching Smith, who had a near triple-double last game, to get more shooting on the floor even though Sim is far from a knockdown shooter.

Georgia did a good job clogging the lane and not allowing Kadary, Smith, or Luis to get much going towards the basket off the dribble. They were able to overhelp off the perimeter because they weren't scared of our shooting. Baylor did the same thing and we made some shots in the 1st half to build a lead but that obviously wasn't sustainable.

Teams are going to clog the lane all season on us and force us to make shots from 3. Dunlap and Sim HAVE to make open shots for this team to get to the next level. We know Scott can shoot and Luis looks better and more comfortable from there but that's still not enough shooting.

Also, Pitino needs to do a factory reset on whatever he did to "fix' Kadary's shooting form. It's now among the worst shooting form I've ever seen. He was an 80% FT shooter last year and now his FTs don't even get above the rim most of the time. His shooting form now looks like Charles Barkley's golf swing. Idk how this staff ruined his form that badly

Mug: " Pitino mentioned benching Smith, who had a near triple-double last game, to get more shooting on the floor even though Sim is far from a knockdown shooter."

That's a hof coach, can't argue right?
ahhhhh

That's one Pitino can wear. I kept waiting for Smith, Glover, Prey to make an appearance.
Since our outside shooting stunk up the joint today, why not go big and team Prey with Zuby? Vince is not contributing and I said it before, Wilcher is not ready for prime time. Also, that technical against him was uncalled for. If he wants to be a tough guy, jump on the floor and go after some loose balls.

And, this was a rinky dink tourney from the facilities , hand towels to dry the Court and disappointing to lose 2 of 3 games .

We lost 2 games that we could have won but , didn’t . Virginia is a weak ACC Team this year so that didn’t help offset these losses.

Rough tumble out of top 25,surely coming .
Baha was played at a rinky dink facility. This was played at Atlantis which was not part of the rinky dink tourney

Georgia will finish in the top half of the SEC , a conference that will probably get 10 NCAA Bids. So, while Georgia might not be your normal signature win , it would probably have been a win against a team that makes the NCAA Tournament. That was our problem last year at the end of the season. We only had one win last year against an NCAA Tournament team and that was Creighton at home. We need wins against teams that will make the tournament. The committee is big on that. Quad 1 and Quad 2 wins.
It would have been a very solid win and is not a good loss. As simple as that - no sugarcoating today either from a player or coaching standpoint,
