Georgetown (MSG), Tue., Jan. 14 , 7:30p, PEACOCK

I’m not saying we’re doomed. I said, if we want to be ranked and be able to stay ranked even after a questionable loss. Because , like dk423 said, holding the ranking if we get it will tough. If we are 23, 24, 25, one questionable loss and we’re out. If we end up 19-3 and then beat Marquette at home we’ll probably be ranked in the 15-19 range and if we have a bad loss after that we will still be able to hold our ranking. Maybe we drop to 20-21. That’s what I was saying.
Some folks live in an alternate reality where the Big East is seen as the best conference in the country.

Life of a St John's fan

1st half- wtf is this we are watching are we ever going to make a basket

2nd half- holy cow wait we have a shot yes we have a shot we win we win we win !

Immediately post game-what a game these kids they just don't quit what a win !

Next Morning-our NET went down we might have only lost 3 games this year by 5 total points but we need to win every game left on the schedule by 13 points or more in order to feel comfortably in :)

Just watched the replay on Peacock. Phew. Cardiac kids is right. Great, gritty game to win, especially with Deivon on the bench. Candidly, I hope he sits out the Seaton Hall game also. I'd prefer to have him in for the rest of the season than risk some kind of long term injury because he doesn't have the full range of motion in his shoulder. That makes you play thinking about it the whole time, and you end up doing weird things.

This Georgetown team is a good team. I was scared about this one coming in. Felt primed for a let down here. If they keep some of their squad, they're a possible tourney team next year.

Both Kadary and RJ were off tonight, but made the big plays when we needed them. That seems to be the story with both all season. If RJ can be just a bit more consistent with his 3, its going to open up the game for a lot of the team. Hope he keeps working on that. And for the love of Pete, kick the ball out on maybe 20% more of his drives and we'll get some more open 3's. He's also getting blown by too many times for somebody as athletic as he is. Seems he's not focused on defense. Maybe catching a breath.

I think this was a HUGE game for Scott. 4-7 from downtown. This is the kind of game that breaks a funk. Honestly, that shot off the backboard could do it. Sometimes you just need a little help and to start seeing the ball through the hoop. He also chipped in 9 rebounds, and was much better defending Peavey than RJ was. PotG for me.

Sim has it, he just needs it to be there for 40 minutes. Made huge plays to win us the game in the last two. Defense is much improved when he's focused, 2 steals and 2 blocks last night.

Zuby had a slow night on offense but held Sorber to 5 points. That was huge.

Keep on rolling boys!

If we have 23 wins with only 1 questionable loss...we are in 100 times out of 100. 24 or 25 wins and even a consideration that we'd be out with 1 questionable loss is SJU PTSD kicking in rather than reality.

my un-expert opinion.... Nurses Elbow... ligament popped out- and they popped it back in in the tunnel- doesnt effect range of motion at all (just had my daughters popped back in last month)...

How's my assessment Eric? lol
To be honest, I had never heard the term nurses elbow before for this type injury. Had to look it up. You have more experience with this injury than I do so I'll defer to you lol.

I would think it could affect range of motion at first depending on severity and pain and swelling to the area but seems like recovery could be quick especially in kids.

Long season. Well win games were supposed to lose and lose games were supposed to win. Enjoy the ride

The Sim hate bothers me. He’s halfway thru his first season playing big minutes. Let him grow. Big difference year over year is he would get down after a miss per Pitino. Now he has the balls to keep shooting

Zuby vs Sorber was man vs boy.

on that Luis lefty drive, him, Scott and Zuby were all under the basket. We were getting that rebound if he missed. Just effort!
Impressive to me to see Sim step up and not hesitate to take and make a big shot late in two consecutive games.

I know this is a Georgetown game thread but figured I would post this here.

We all have our favorite players. If anyone reads my posts, Ponds was one of them. Wilcher is another. Maybe he won't ever get to my expectations but I feel like he is on the cusp of becoming so much better. I think he lacks confidence and like Ponds has some maturity issues. They manifest themselves in very different ways though. If Wilcher can figure it out he can help us more than he has to date. Werdann was another one of my favorites who never reached the potential I was hoping for.
Another poster on the site said that Sim’s dad kept yelling at him to score the ball. I hope Sim isn’t hearing that. Such crap from a parent in the stands not only puts a lot of pressure on a player but disrupts what the team is trying to do. In my coaching days I’ve seen more than a few players get screwed up by this. Pitino himself has already stated that there are a few parents who have too much to say. This may account for some of Wilcher’s shooting issues?

Well was he saying “score it” or “shoot it”? 😂

Pitino told the world he wants Sim to shoot more. His dad is just providing a reminder.

Time to assign one staff member, even an intern if need be to lead the charge to contact/honor/involve past players in a structured and continuous manner. Am sure our valued poster, Alumni Hall, could offer some history and suggestions going forward. As I’ve noted a few times, Nova does a great job with that via events, social media and honoring players at games.

They showed Dwight on the big screen and he got a nice ovation.

He clearly hyperextended the elbow. I was concerned when he went straight to the locker room. But he wound up returning and re-entering the game, I'm sure he's fine.
