Not much more to say that hasn't already been said.  Great team win and another on the road.  So happy we didn't have a let down after the Nova win.  Now let's keep it rolling, head to Hinkle and sweep Butler!

My system continues to work.  No live game watching for me. I will keep on doing it.  i can't risk jinxing the streak.

Superstitiousness works!
I swear if you even think of watching a game we are showing up to your house with Monte's cousins stealing your tv and what Monte's cousins do next I wont take any responsiibility for
Think Vito Spatafore

Those 2 dimes Dunn to Moore espically the first one were just beautiful to watch

One pass must have been around 100 miles per hour.  I don't know how Moore caught it.

That first one. Amir Garret must have tears of joy on that one

I was VERY surprised by the win.  My expectation was that Watson would go for something like 26 and 18 - he beat that on points, but not on rebounds.  Reeves did about what you'd expect from him, but Duke clearly remains mired in a deep slump.  However, that was offset by Horschler - so all in all the bottom line is that Providence did about what we would expect them to do offensively.

From a statistics standpoint it's pretty clear that the reason we won is because we shot lthe lights out in the first half and then got back to geting our share of turnovers in the second half.

But the REAL reason why we won is coaching.  This game laid out as a sure ticket for a letdown after the Nova game, but instead the staff made sure that the team came out laser-focused.  It's clear that Julian was told that if he is going to be The Man then he is going to have to start being a little less unselfish - which was needed.  The deep bench was used effectively to make sure that there were fresh legs on the floor at all times - part of the reason we are able to counterpunch after the other team uses its energy to get up off of the mat.  Throw in the second-half adjustment to start doubling Watson (after letting Josh and Marcellus try unsuccessfully to man him in the first half) and the season-long development and maturation of the players both individually and as a team.

The bottom line is that you're looking at a team that is professionally coached on a level that St John's fans haven't seen in a long, long time.  And it's still a team that's missing some pieces from a roster standpoint.

Best of all, Paultz owes me a post-pandemic beer - which I will thoroughly enjoy while a few folks around here are eating some crow!

I'll go off topic but yet stay on. That guy that played Vito was a cook and restaurant owner and goes to peoples houses now and cooks dinner for parties and hangs out and tells Soprano stories. I messaged with him and depending on Covid I'm probably going to have him come to my house this summer to do a party so any redmen guys that want to come if we do it I'll put up a thread. He seems like a really good dude

SJU shoots 64 per cent from two point range, 53 from three point range to go along with 88 per cent from the foul line. When was the last time they shot the ball like that? I think the improvement in the first two categories is due to the staffs coaching which has resulted in much better ball movement and shot selection, more so than the players shooting techniques.

Weirdest play of the game - Posh called for an offensive foul when he shot and made a trey
I don't think I have ever seen a 3 point shooter whistled for an offensive foul on his shot
When I heard the whistle, I figured it would be a defensive foul and a chance at a 4 point play

Watching the replay, that call irked the heck out of me.

I totally agree,  Posh had released the ball be fore any contact took place.  In addition, I thought the rule was that an offensive player was supposed to be given room to come down to avoid undercuts by the defender.  All I could think at the time was that we would end up losing by 1 or 2.

This team is taking off!!
Dude I think I mentined this on your first or second one but your voice and cadence is very impressive. You speak nice rythem and concise. This stuff I know well since the majority of my time with clients is on the phone. Very well done. Now get a redmen.com poster for the background and it will be complete but seriously you do a great job

I am amazed at how good a three point shooting team we are becoming. Champs, Cole, Posh and Williams are real threats and Earlington and Wusu can knock down shots when open.

I dont folloe recruiting but how do the 5 star guards this class rank against Posh ? Also I havent watched much of other games conference wise other than us but obviously Posh is a first teamer but I swear when I see Wusu I see 4 years of being very happy if not ecstatic

As for Wusu - I'm high on him.  No one, perhaps except the staff could have envisioned Wusu playing nearly 20 min a game at the level he has.  I think he's quicker than some think. When he drives to the lane, he's a fast and controlled ball of muscle.

Given Posh's small size I think it would be hard for him to be drafted but who knows. If he keeps playing like this he can certainly make money somewhere. I am hoping he and Wusu will be in our backcourt for the next three seasons and that we will have Pinzon also for four years. Those should be 3 excellent players and give us real good depth at the guard position going forward.
CMA's once maligned recruiting is starting to look very very good.
looking forward to his best class yet next fall , which hopefully will include a true post player.
