Sometimes even the score doesn't tell the whole story. Got back from the game, and took a very nice 90 minute nap.
The ball movement was superb. In the mid first half after two or three possessions where we scored, the last on a brilliant pass from the key by one of our bigs, DLo pounded his chest and was yelling as he picked up his man near midcourt, as pumped as you can be. He had not touched the ball on offense in those sequences and was still stoked.
Marco nailing three threes with confidence, and his teammates hitting him as he was squared as if he were a main gun. And he was.
Sanchez - forget the 19 points and inside out nature of them. Between the foul lines he is a weapon in transition bringing the ball up in full control and full knowledge of where his teammates are, who busted it to fill the lanes as he correctly pushed it up the middle. Run with him, and you will see the ball. No-way-NBA? No way to that - it's way to early to make pronouncements, but this boy can play this game.
Pointer was superb. I believe he had 7 assists, and most of them beautiful eye popping passes.
Lavin, sporting black rimmed glasses coached like he could actually see what was going on. The offense that had no semblance was cooking full blast.
You could go on and on. Of course you can when for an afternoon, everything went right.
Unreal transformation. You wouldn't believe this was the sluggish team that looked like they couldn't blow out Queens College just a few days ago.
For those of you who haven't bought tickets, the new completed Garden is a treat. The new scoreboard is amazing, and I found myself watching the play on the screens a few times and had to remind myself to watch the court.
Of course on a day where everything went right, it's very easy to get giddy. But it the way things went right that gives all of us cause to get excited, and quickly so.
