FLORIDA - Relocating

Single family w/pool next to big water trap on golf course.  (Free entertainment factor from panicked screams of golfers and endless collection of golf balls which I donate to local kids golf program.) Sold upstate NY summer house last October and got rid of Manhattan apartment rental (me consulting and wife seeing patients and Lincoln Center shows late in 2016).  Insurance costs are high and flood zone or not keeps changing which affects price.  I switched from AT&T Uverse to AT&T streaming which they immediately changed to DirectTV Streaming.  Reading the schedule it looks like I will be able to see all games the same as Rich Steinfeld.

redmen.com been around so long in 5 years there will be more florida members than new york members. 114 will have to start doing florida away game parties

My son just moved to Wesley Chapel , Fl in the Tampa Area from NY .  They love it !  Has a pool on backyard with a fenced yard . Otherwise you get Gators wanting to swim with you . Plus the snakes .   He’s in a good Community with good schools as my grandson is finishing his last 2 years .   He’s already wavering from his lifetime support of the Mets , Rangers in favor of the Rays and Lightning .  He says Ticket availability is still pretty good for both teams .    The Tampa area is good because of its proximity to a major Airport .    I looked at Florida when I retired but , choose SCarolina instead , near Hilton Head and 25 minutes to Savannah and it’s Airport . Taxes are better in SCarolina . I pay about $1400 a year in RE taxes .  Compared to over $ 12, 000 in NY .  I go to Charleston , 2 hours away to see my  Specialist Dr who is from NY and is Nationally known .  Golf is 12 months a year here and Courses all over . You don’t have to join a Club . Climate here is like Jacksonville , which means HOT .  Winter ? What’s that ?

I can understand rooting for new teams in the area of a new location that you have moved to BUT ONLY in addition to the teams you originally rooted for, would never change allegiance from my original teams as my top teams to root for.

Any thoughts on homes with or without pools—-

Even though I have a pool, I don’t think you need one if the development has one. Things r selling fast down here w or w/o pool. I no longer even use my pool, but have to pay every month to maintain.

What are you paying for? Is it saltwater? Get a robot vacuum and don’t waste money paying a service to come every month.

Even if I do not see my teams regularly on TV, once we move down to Florida I will NEVER lose interest in the Yankees, Jets, Knicks, Rangers and most of all, the Johnnies. With internet access you can always read about or listen to radio and keep informed and interested.

TIF: the best part of your post even though you mentioned us last is........"most of all the Johnnies"!!!!!!

I've been a snowbird in Delray Beach for 17 years. I'm there 6 months of the year (roughly November 1 - May 1). I love it there. There is no better place to be during the winter. I live in a condo in a 55+ community and have seen prices in the area skyrocket in the past year. The further north you go, the more house you get for the money. For example, a friend of mine bought a brand new single family home with approximately 1700 sq feet under air in a 55+ gated community in Port St Lucie. She paid $252,000 a couple of years ago, That same unit would probably sell for three times that price in Delray.

I, too, have a fabulous realtor who could help you with real estate in the Delray-Boynton-Lake Worth area. I have referred her to several friends and can assure you that she goes the extra mile for all of her clients. Feel free to send me a PM if you would like additional information.

I'm really glad to see more redmen.comers coming to South Florida. It would be great to get together during the season. Please keep in touch when the season starts!!

Ok, so we bought in South Florida, in Miami Shores, which for those of you not familiar with it (I wasn't before buying here!) it's the next village just north of Miami. We moved here to be close to our son and his family. We're snowbirding here now, at lest until late January.  Than back up to CT to get our house there ready to sell.  Hope to be able to get together with some other redmen fans in the are to watch some hoops!

Very strange decorating a tree and house for Christmas when its 84 degrees and humid out! :)

And your Christmas tree story is one of the reasons why my wife won't commit to Florida permanently.

Lots of Redmen all around.  Welcome to Boca Bash territory.  If we can get rid of the damn virus our numbers swell during the season.

please softly tell mrs delaware that today there are 83 reasons to move to florida for december.
we just ate outside at sharkeys on the beach.

Joe, hope all is well. Two of our other friends have recently sold their homes here and are permanently residing in Venice now. They frequently keep us informed about the wonderful weather. I'm heading down January 15th, and my wife flies down a few days later. I'll be in touch so we can resume our lunches. Looking forward to that.

Weather is perfect, playing Golf, lounging in my back yard by the pool, not missing the Northern temperature.

If any Redmen.comer reading this will be in the Vero area this winter then please PM me and I will be pleased to meet up with you for lunch or to watch a StJ's game.
