Florida Gulf Coast

Anyone remember Vinny Johnson the microwave ? Harrison reminds me of him when he starts scoring so quickly

Note to self: next game don't try to make a game thread lol. Anyway, nice win this was the game I was worried about...NJIT and the others are not as scrappy IMO. Then again since we can't put teams away early you never know. Can't wait for that elusive blowout and dunk free for all.

Nice win against a team that I think will upset someone if they make it to tournament. Until we get Sanchez or Gift, Obepka needs to play more minutes he's devastating on defense. His offense game is more polished than I thought also. Him getting a quick two fouls in the first half definitly contributed to us falling behind the way we did. The team gets energy from his defensive play.

Thank god we made up that gap...the way we are playing I'll take being tied at half anyday. With that being said, I don't get it...I really don't so can someone clear this up for me? WHY are our opponents rebounding juggernauts? Or to put it another way, why are we so terrible? Athleticism is our thing, not FGCU's thing. We should be feasting on boards. If Harrison doesn't get going in the 2nd half and we don't start getting stops on D, this game is the one I pick that we drop in the cupcake OOC matchups. Hope to god I'm wrong but we have never even led.

Because Rebounding is about technique and desire. Athleticism plays little if any part of it.

The Gift experiment is old. He tore up OOC play last year. He doesn't deserve this kind of treatment.

He is getting a masters degree for free so I don't think he minds too much. Let him get his education because he probably will not be a pro anywhere.

You have no idea if he minds or not. If the NCAA drags this out and declares Sanchez ineligible in January, what's the point of suiting Gift up with half a season left? I'm sure it's eating him up to have to sit there and not be able to compete and not even being injured. Most athletes would, master's degree or not.

Interesting:

@DalyDoseOfHoops: Steve Lavin: "I was actually going to start Obekpa tonight, but we talked about it...he likes coming off the bench and sizing up the game."

@STJ_Basketball: Lavin: "Obekpa likes coming off the bench because he's able to watch the game and process what's going on before entering."

Not that I know him at all, but he doesn't appear to have that kind of personality. He is a true scholar and gentlemen. He is probably thrilled just to be in America and not Nigeria...getting a free MA is not a small thing, and I'm sure he's thankful for everything. Sure he wants to play but he seems like the kind of guy that understands his place.
