Fire Lavin!

Lavin did create some upfront excitement, but we now find ourselves in a very dark place. Some of us saw it earlier than others, and some still may not see it. Regardless, the outlook is bleak. Not only do we have no 2014 recruits (unforgivable), players are unhappy in the program. Let us not forget that current players play a role in recruiting. They have existing relationships with recruits and their coaches. Also, Lavin's coaching abilities are well known. This will be used by players when making a decision to come to St. John's and used against Lavin by opposing coaches (admittedly a classless approach, but does happen). My point is that Lavin's strength (recruiting) is becoming neutralized.

For me, knowing we have to rebuild this whole thing (yet again), I sincerely hope we choose a new coach to lead us through the process. It's just so clear that Lavin's short comings will repeatedly doom us.

Sorry - your posts aren't very clear to me. So you're saying you don't like Lavin?

LOL

Lavin supporters are like the thought police. The truth hurts, so they attempt to persuade folks from discussing disapproval of their wizard.

That said, if it's about Dom, Phil or Antoine Mason (or anything they agree with), repeat posting is not a problem.

I can deal with the Lavin bashing, but you do not bring Antoine Mason into this. *Marillac rolls up sleeves*

Where are the Lavin supporters? Just guys that don't like to read the same posters (even those who changed their screen names) repeating the same thing ad nauseum, regardless of the point of the thread. Tedious, tiresome, trite, etc.

Don't care for your posts either. You'll get over it.

How about a poll to see whose posts are more annoying? I suspect it would be a landslide.

I'll try. May need to up my zoloft.

That's pretty funny. As a Lavin supporter, I stopped posting here because the extremist Lavin haters say the same thing over and over again, just in different ways. These posts have become, in your words, " tedious, tiresome and trite." By the way, I like the alliteration. This thread stopped becoming a civil debate about whether Lavin should stay or go, oh, I'd say about 50000 posts ago. Carry on with the hate.

And the extremist Lavin lovers used to say the same things over and over again as well. "Be patient", "we're better off then we were under Norm", "being a head coach is not an easy job", "it's the kid's fault!!!!!!!" etc., etc. etc. I just think that there aren't to many Lavin supporters left. Even they've seen the light.

Lavin SHOULD be out getting JUCO's and recruits, instead he just took a job as an analyst on FS1 for the remainder of the NCAA tournament. What a joke.

When I heard that I was so pissed, you got guys leaving the program left and right and you take a part time job as an analysts instead of getting much needed recruits...

At least Lav has his priorities straight...

There are some tall interns at Fox. Let's see if he gets lucky.

I am certain he will have spun this to the SJU admin as being good for raising the profile of the school. Actually getting your team in the tournament works, too.

I heard he is going to the bathroom 7 times a day instead of 6. This guy doesn't give an eff anymore.

Come on. Are you trying to mock me for getting mad at him taking the analyst job? This is a joke, while Lav is working at FS1, two players have left the program, two others have come awfully close, and ADR is setting up a visit to Pitt this weekend. He must think ADR is a guarantee to SJU if he's not working hard on JUCO's and other big men recruits, but I don't think he is if he just set up a visit to Pittsburgh.

I'll worry about it come may. He has a track record of pulling recruits out of his ass in the spring. Whether he can coach is debatable. .. whether he can recruit is not, imo. If he doesn't have GOOD players signed by the end of the signing period sayall you want . I'll wait till then before I judge every little thing.

I agree, and stated that in a post yesterday. I'll hold judgment on our teams roster until the end of the spring. But it still pisses me off that he is doing what he is doing. Again, he must think ADR is a lock to SJU, maybe he is. But the fact that he is taking a visit to a school with a better team in a better conference, and a team that consistently makes the tournament, is worrying me.

I hear ya. I'm giving him this signing period and next seasons success or failure. If we don't make the ncaas I'm done with supporting him

I'm sure Lav, and the administration for that matter, thinks working for FS1 during the tournament IS recruiting for St. John's.

Too bad every high school kid I've ever met in my life prefers to watch ESPN

Lavin should be out at the coaching clinics offered at the various regional sites. If we can't identify the best players on our roster and set a lineup/rotation by January, and put those players/lineups/rotation in the best position to win, it doesn't matter who we bring in unless we start recruiting like Kentucky and just let them play.

"We like our roster the way it is," Lavin said. "If we get a piece or two [fine] . . . but 2015 and '16 are the classes we're focused on. We may be a little smaller, but if you look at the personnel on the other rosters in our conference, we match up very well with everyone in the league. I wouldn't trade our guys for anybody in this league."

I don't take the stuff that comes out of his mouth too seriously. But some of his statements sounds like he is delusional or the other way to look at it is he is so full of sh-t that you cant believe a word he says.

If we do fire Lavin, who do we get? I, for one, am against firing him as we don't know what we will end up with. We could end up with another Norm. Hey! Wait! I know for a fact that Mike Jarvis is available! :silly:
