you either fire or extend, without guaranteeing the entire deal. In effect there would be a buyout after any season which would not even equate to one season's salary. You can't recruit as a lame duck.

Frighteningly accurate article. He started out with fireworks and we are now barely a flicker of a light.
A great first recruiting class now we hope to get a project in a package deal.

I looked back at a press release announcing Lavin's hiring at St. John's. He was quoted as saying he wanted to hire the strongest possible assistants. The best in the business. He even mentioned Barry Rohrrson specifically as a guy he'd like to have on the staff. It almost worked with Dunlap instilling some disciplined practice planning, but he didn't stay. Whitesell might be the guy, but he has been here a very short time.

Everyone here agrees that Lavin is a great recruiter and not a good in-game coach. There is a part of me that wants him to get extended because his recruiting and media relations have been excellent. However, in the extension stipulations he MUST shake up his assisting staff because they clearly have not made up for what he lacks in coaching.

At this point I have been as positive as I can be but once again as I watch the NCAA I start to wonder, Where did we go wrong?, What happened?, This was supposed to be our season, When will our time come?, How much money and time will it take to get us back to the NCAA?,. and most of all Why?, Why?, Why? do I care so much about this team that it still bothering me 2 days after our loss.
I feel like a drug addict with an addiction to SJUBB that keeps screwing me over year after year but I keep coming back for more thinking this time its going to be different and explaining to everyone how and why its going different this time around.

So we`d have to wait until the 2016-17 seaon (Lavins 7th season) to get into the tourny.

But yeah knowing you guys, it will be the same old song: "they`re headed in the right direction, atleast we`re getting 4 star recruits and we`re competitive...ect...ect...ect.

But that`s how you lavin defenders think. Even though in alot of games they are unprepared and they go down alot. Then they have to fight all the way back just to get even. By the time they`re back in it they are drained and have nothing left.

But in your world every is all dandy.

But the season is over, so not gonna waste my energy going back and forth with you.
Guess the only thing I could say is, lets see what next year brings.

I mentioned this on the Jordan thread, IMO our only hope for real success next year is that Jordan takes the reins as a true floor general.
