Fire Lavin!

The way Mark Jackson is doing at Golden State, perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad to go in that direction. Oh, I forgot, he had no coaching experience.

Just because Jackson is a St. John's grad does not mean he's a good coach. Warrior fans would gladly swap him for Lavin.

huh? I doubt that. Jackson took over a team that went 23-43 his 1st season that improved to 44-38 and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs his 2nd season. This year he has them at 22-13 tied for 1st in arguably the best division in the NBA. In what bizarro world would they gladly swap him for Lavin
Thank You for a dose of reality extinguishing one of the stupidest posts ever. I'm not sure we ever had a shot at Mark but surely his supposed lack of experience should apply to Lavin where the NBA is concerned. Fact is that Lavin has very few opportunities right now and they will diminish with every BE disaster he coaches. There is no fun connected with this program and starting walkons or subs isn't going to cure that. Thanks Steve for rewarding ticket holders with assurance that we made our annual mistake. You're nothing if not consistent.

Go ask your NBA connection how many different discussions there have been about replacing Jackson. Get back to me with the answer. Quick answer: a lot more discussions then there have been about replacing Lavin. He needs to make noise in the playoffs or his future is in jeopardy there.

And the fans out here do not like him. But hey, I can only see the Warriors' practice facility from the window of my condo. Maybe I don't live close enough to the city to know the pulse of the fans.

And if that is truly the feelings of the fans then I would gladly welcome him to the Knicks after Woodson gets fired. I wanted Jackson as a coach even without coaching experience, especially since as a point guard he was the coach on the court.

From what I've heard in general he has a way of rubbing people the wrong way at times.

I know some people who know him and say he is a really great guy. I will say though that his public persona rubs me the wrong way, but I can't put a finger on it exactly. Isn't it the same Warriors ownership that drove Chris Mullin out of town after he revived the program?

They win and are really fun to watch, so yeah I can see why people would want him fired?????
I would trade Woodson for him in a second. Maybe they throw in David Lee for Amare as well

LJSA knows the situation better than I but I think that was the last ownership group. This is a new group that was booed during a Mullin jersey ceremony or something and Mullin told fans they were wrong and the new owners were good. And in fact they have been very good for the team.

As punishment for being stupid, anyone who thinks Mark Jackson should be fired should be forced to watch 48 minutes of Melo being isolated on the wing while 4 guys stand around. Or 40 minutes of SJU basketball. That should clear up the problem!

No Hope thinks that lavin is a top recruiter and a below average bench coach. The bottom line is this is the year that we were supposed to take a major leap forward and make the NCAA. if we do not put on our best cloths and shoes and go dancing in march then this year is a failure everyone has to agree. If we do not make the big dance this year we must then start to think lavin is not right for us. Until then we have to sit back and enjoy the games and hope we win enough to make the dance. :woohoo:

No Hope also thinks in 10-15 years we will all be saying Hurley is one of the best coaches in america and he will be running a power house program the kid has coaching chops!

Whats your take on Masiello?

mkras is glad no hope is back, but hopes no hope starts using paragraphs in future posts.

He jumps ship quickly IMO. If he comes to a place like sju it would just be a stepping stone.

Never met the man so I am only relaying info. I a very friendly with someone who knows Masiello (they grew up together & went to HS together also, not super friendly these days but they are still in touch from time to time). My friend's opinion of him is not a favorable one when it comes to Masiello's personality. Take that for whatever it's worth.

Just spoke to my buddy again & I thought I should "update" my post on Masiello. My friend said "he's a cocky son of a bitch, but I'm sure he makes a great coach b/c of that".

Agreed. I hope Lavin is here for a long time, but if he isn't Hurley would probably be #1 on my list in a vacuum. He's the goods. Problem is, as you mention, keeping him around. He has the talent and pedigree to get a Top 10 job, and is well on his way in a short period of time in the college game. Our angle would probably be if he wanted to be close to Jersey long-term.

you have to have confidence and be cocky to be a good coach imo. you have to think you are better than the next guy ..........I think if hurley turns us into a power house which he would he would stay here and win year after year.

and no hope says he will work on his sentence structure and paragraphs for mkrass ...

and for you movie lovers who also love sports and gambling..in the words of paul newman no hope says

"I'M BACK" ;)

I think Lavin can move to Florida Atlantic after Jarvis retires.
