@SJUCoachLavin: Found a way to get the W tonight. Poise down stretch and 2-3 Zone

2-3 zone!!! Man, that makes me happy. Obekpa did a few years in that system and so did Sanchez and Marco. Great fit for this squad and it's easy to fall back into after a nice press.

I was just about to ask if anybody knows where we can find the box score

And one of the fox sports reporter is there with the team, I'm hoping he makes an appearance on fox sports live to talk about the game.

I see D'Angelo started right where he left off. 7/20 FG lol.

I like seeing Hooper having the green light and getting up 7 three pointers.

Interesting he only really played 7.
Add Jordan and Greene and that's a very nice rotation.
Might be the year to consider red shirting Jones and Felix.

I could be wrong but Jones probably used up his eligibility by playing in this game.

Can't redshirt him unless he gets hurt.

A few things that I was interested to see: A) FT shooting B ) if Hooper got PT and C) what the overall rebounding would look like. Exhibition against pro teams means that they usually take it very serious so this looks good even for the first glimpse, pre-season but the FT shooting is always a pet peeve for me. Sampson only took 2 but he has an ugly routine that I hope gets worked before the season starts. But Obekpa 3/5 I guess is a major step forward... By minutes, Gift was most productive rebounder, though last in minutes for the front line. That's a good sign for our depth.

Pretty sure these games do not count as a normal exhibition back home. Could be wrong but I think these are viewed totally differently. Euro rules, etc.

Still under the jurisdiction of the NCAA, no? Yeah, not an NCAA-regulated game, but it is an NCAA rule that allows them to travel every 4 years.

I'm just guessing here because of everything we've seen with Orlando and other players. My guess is you play 1 minute = 1 year of eligibility

Wow, 20+ minutes for Hooper. I guess it was a combo of injuries/fouls but that is still a lot of minutes and looks like his stroke is for real.

Think Moose is right. Saw this piece on Cuse kid currently on Canadian tour;

"Can B.J. Johnson play himself out of a redshirt role

"Because of eligibility issues concerning Roberson another incoming freshmen, Johnson, a 6-foot-7 forward, has a chance to play himself into a backup role and avoid that dreaded redshirt tag. If Johnson can play well in the next four days and continue to improve through pre-season workouts then he could force Boeheim and company to have no choice but to keep him on the roster for this season. However, there's a boatload of talent ahead of him and the task will be tough."

Seems to imply he could still be redshirted despite playing on Canadian Tour.

it was crazy how one of the players we played was old enough to be my dad, gray hair and all! Point guard, he was hooping though!

He's probably right then. I just figured how he was so cautious last year. Below says regular season game but I guess Moose is right.

Redshirt Rules
For an athlete to receive a standard redshirt, the NCAA requires that player not be involved in any competition for the year he is redshirted. Any amount of competition time, even 1 minute on a basketball court during a regular season game, for example, counts as a season of eligibility.

Redshirted athletes are allowed to travel, practice and even dress for competition for their team during their redshirt season, but the minute they step on the playing field, they lose their redshirt status and use a season of eligibility.
