It looked like the "Anderson factor" was rearing it's ugly head again. Timeout called up one, and we turn it over, and Temple gets a 3 out of it. It looked like last year all over again.

These guys don't quit. Jones and Curbelo are going to drive us crazy, but they're also going to win quite a few games for us.

How about Stanley in the 2nd half? Did a great job holding the fort while Soriano was in foul trouble.

Soriano and Mathis have been great all season, so far.

Jones looks like he is the type of player who will get at least 15 points every game, somehow. He may also be our second best rebounder. Really has a nose for the ball, coming off the rim.

Reynolds played well but a lot of it was when Soriano got into foul trouble and had to back off on defense. They were smart and went inside once he was in trouble. Wouldn’t say that he outplayed him. Soriano played equally as well and showed a lot of leadership.
Uhhhh, why do you think Soriano was in foul trouble? it’s cause Reynolds was eating him up inside.

Guys gutted it out. Curbelo went from goat to hero and deserves props for coming up big when it mattered most. Posh was great on defense couldn’t get his shots to fall. On to Syracuse, let’s give Girard nightmares for weeks with ball pressure. Time for bed!

I'm not going to lie CMA probably has the worst out of timeout success rate I ever seen. I like it more when he let's his guys play it out. And I think the reason this happens is, because you force guys that you've essentially trained to play fast and make quick decisions to slow down and run a sideline out of bounds play and it's just not their strength, they overthink it. Give it to Curberlo or Posh, call the play from the sideline and let your 2 PGs make a play!

The key to these games is the relentless pressure . The other teams run out of gas ..

Big win to get Syracuse on the schedule.
Posh will need to handle the very smooth shooting Girard.
As for tonight's game we played a helter skelter disorganized game and were lucky to beat a talented Temple team with legit players at every position. Lack of depth did them in. Hate to say it but the Curbelo-Posh backcourt has not gelled well to date. Bigger guards will exploit them in some games so Anderson better get Kolby King some minutes in future games.

Interesting take by Jon Crispin who provided game analysis…said St. John’s make it ugly (which is not a new assessment) but said he was amazed that Johnnies don’t put their heads down after making an error and just get after it again. Would prefer that we value possessions better and work for better shots, but glad that they play fearless.

Yes they play fearless but they scare the crap out of me

Don't pay him any mind. The majority of his responses have been disses or backhanded compliments (which is akin to a diss).

Hold up. So you see Posh yelling with excitement for his teammates, hugging teammates, everybody happy after a big win, and first thing that comes to your mind is Posh is going to transfer???

Come on man.
Amazes me. Still figuring things out and isn’t shooting well. But fills up the stat sheet 6-6-6. One turnover. And relentless D on their guards.

Both Nova and Rutgers were playing without key players especially Nova. While the win against any Nova team is great, let’s not say that Temple is better then they are.

A good win for us against at best a team that would be in the lower middle of the Big East.
Temple isn’t great. But they are projected to have a nice season in their league I believe as a borderline NCAA team. Wasn’t a great win. But wasn’t a bad one either. They have some guards that will cause teams problems on certain nights and the big can play too. And the best part was it being close and us making plays in the half court down the stretch to win a close one. We struggled so much last year in those types of games.

Not much confidence we win that game last year. Curbelo may have made more than his fair share of mistakes but he had the skills and balls to make the winning plays when mattered most.

I just got back from the Barclay Center where I spent a really enjoyable evening watching two entertaining College Basketball games. I was so buzzed about it that I decided to relive the experience by reading this entire thread and just wanted to say that for some of you who helped to create this thread that some Prozac might come in handy.

From where I sat in the arena I thought St. John's should be praised for defeating two formidable opponents. One was a pretty good Temple team and the other (and IMHO the one that was by far the bigger obstacle to overcome) was an absolute brutal crew of refs who must have been wearing blindfolds over their eyes in addition to the whistles around their necks.

That SJU was able to come away with a win despite some atrocious and critical calls that went against them, is a testament to their grit and toughness. On to Syracuse tomorrow nigh,t where I pray for a more evenly reffed game and of course a St. John's victory.
