Exactly, he builds up his Twitter base & popularity by answering questions. To me it's not a big deal. He is good at what he does. If he noted SJU was likely to stay in bracket, I suspect some folks would be happy. Digging out of this huge hole of our own doing is something to concentrate on, not Lunardi Imo.Maybe he meant doubt they stay in last four because he thinks they move into tournament at higher seed? Not sure why people are getting mad at him -- he's great at his job.

Actually Lunardi likes SJU but he feels the dept will kill them down the stretch.Lunardi is an ass. Just do the brackets and keep your mouth shut

A win tomorrow will move them safely into the tournament. However it is a game by
game adventure.

Again, just because the team is in a huge hole does not mean I can't take issue with an analyst writing stupid articles about our team like he did. The team shouldn't be focused on lunardi but me on the other hand can do whatever the hell I want.
I agree he's great at his job, of picking brackets, but predicting the future doubting a team just leaves the door open for him to lose his credibility. He wrote and article called "Why St. John's won't make the tourney" and said we didn't have enough top 50 wins to make it. When we had 7, yep, SEVEN top 50 games left plus a BET where we are bound to run in to another. And look at that, we are, as of now, 1-0 against those 7, and he still has throw in a "doubt they stay there" remark when all the guy on twitter asked was whether they were back in.
I don't care if he was predicting a SJU final four run, it is still annoying how he thinks he knows what is going to happen, this is sports. Take a look at the Super Bowl last night, expect the unexpected.
We can get in at 7-11 and making the Big East finals. Don't believe me? Try it yourself. Have them win 4 more conference games (I did Creighton, DePaul, Seton Hall, Xavier) and then set 4 "Extra" neutral court games with us winning 3 and losing one (we'd play on the opening night with the 7, 8, 9, 10 teams, so 4 games total). Our RPI would be right around 50, give or take a few spots depending on who we'd play.

Will this happen? Probably not. My point is there are a lot of possibilities. We shouldn't be painting this as needing to go 7-3 or whatever rest of the way. That would simply guarantee us a position BEFORE the Big East tournament.

Oh lordy. That just cracked me up Adam, thanks alot I needed that.
So if we finish 7-11 but some how make the B.E. finals then we get it?
What makes you believe that we'd get to the BE finals if we go 7-11?
that was the best post of the year by far.

Best post of the year was you guaranteeing to the entire board that we will without a doubt go undefeated in the month of January

Yeah that was comical too right?
I was watching the Gonzaga/Memphis game last night and they were talking about which teams are on the outside looking in on the bubble but are capable of a run in the tournament to even the final four.
They named us. I think a lot of people are giving us respect for how we've shown up against the likes of duke and Gonzaga. I hope we fulfill our potential and make the tournament because I believe if we get the right matchups a sweet sixteen run could be in the cards
Sweet Sixteen? Be happy if our inconsistent, roster challenged team gets to .500 in BE Jack.
I can believe what I want and I think if we just get in we can do damage. I am aware of our challenges, I'm not an idiot, but i still believe in us.
if we get in there is no telling how far we can go especially if our players dont foul out of any game
Dee, top teams will eat us alive in the ncaa tourny
#4 Villanova - Up 2 with 10minutes, lose by 18. That's a 20pnt swing.
#5 Duke - Up 10 with 8 to go, lose by 9. 19pnt swing.

We'd be a top 5 team if that happened. It's good to dream I guess

What you just pointed out to the world is that we were beating two top five teams late in the second half.
We have a dozen games to get the freshman big man, Alibegovic, to the point where he can be comfortable on offense/less foul-prone on D and give us 8-10 quality minutes a night. That will go a long way to help with depth.
There is also time for Obekpa to turn it up and, of course, for Rysheed to give us what he was to start the year.

I used an extreme to make a point. The point is...
7-11 with 3 Big East tournament wins
8-10 with 2 Big East tournament wins
9-9 with 1 Big East tournament win
10-8 with 0 Big East tournament wins
...or win the tournament and get the automatic bid.
It's not black and white. There's multiple possibilities. And Providence won it all last year which was very unlikely.

There is nothing wrong with what you pointed out. Some posters are holding to the notion that we need 20013-2014 win totals when this league is entirely different this season. We have a strong RPI this year whereas the RPI last season was poor after the loss to Depual.
I believe the magic # this year is 19 win (not counting Franklin Pierce). Under your model, we got #19. I'd feel a lot better if we got 20+ obviously, as I think that eliminates any doubts.
