@Creighton, Tue., Dec. 31, 4p, PEACOCK

I loved Ponds. I think most of our fans did. He was one of the best guards we've had in the last 25 years. Similar to Hatten, but Hatten is more liked by our fan base because of how he played and because he won more. Hatten got to the NCAA. He also won the NIT when it still meant something (though not like it did in the past). And he single-handedly carried certain offensively challenged groups.

Ponds was laid back, like Kadary, and so you had some of the same body language and lack of tenacity-type stuff that bothers some of our fanbase with KR. He also played on some talented but ultimately disappointing teams.

Him and Lovett were fun to watch when they were together and going.
Ponds was terrific, and he carried us for huge parts of his three years here. His back-to-back-to-back performances against Duke/Marquette/Villanova (not sure of the order) in his sophomore season is one of the great streaks in Johnnies' history.

Randy the Macho Man Savage was one of the great Wrestlers in the WWF days ..
Guys like him and Rowdy Roddy Piper , Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura ( Gov of Minnesota ) were all a major part of the show .
When they were being interviewed it was like a scripted show in itself . So outlandish it was actually entertaining .
Good music / wrestling trivia question; Jimmy Hart, colorful wrestling manager known as the “Mouth of the South” was a member of the one hit wonder band “The Gentry’s” who had a 1965 hit with “Keep On Dancing”. Hart was one of their two lead singers although weirdly enough the hit was sung by their lead guitarist.

Really really want this game, but not worried if we lose @ Creighton, as long as we win 3 of our first 4. If we win then I'll feel really good about making the tournament. Now if we wipe the floor with them and win in double digits, then I'll have no doubt we'll get in.

This is a really big game in a place where we always lose. Rick wants to change the fans mind set of a losing culture? Winning tomorrow will go along way in doing that.

Go REDMEN!!!!!!!!!!1

Road favorites at Providence and Creighton in the same season. Gotta go back to never for the last time that happened. Vegas respect.
said this exact thing earlier to someone, favorites in back to back road games for SJU, unheard of

I’ll admit I was wrong. And pop being out I’m sure has swayed the line a bit. But no way we should be favored in this game. I’m pissed because I love betting us as dogs.

Why no way we should be favored when johnnies have the better squad this year and the metrics have johnnies favored as well? Its basically a pickem anyway at less than bucket though

But sounds like putting creighton on a pedastal to me. The 1-12 record in this arena is pretty meaningless. Rick is 0-1, with a 1 pt L against a better version of creighton with a lesser version of the johnnies.

RJ going to explode on Creighton tomorrow. In fact, we have a few guys on offense for whom Creighton has no answers. We are a quantifiably better team than they are and will overcome their significant home court advantage with our defense, rebounding, and number of offensive possessions.

Because I said so lol. Ha. Just kidding.

But if pop Isaac’s was playing then Creighton would have been a slight favorite so I’ll go with that.
