I'm watching the game and thinking to myself, "I'm glad that we didn't get this nasty, petty SOB as our coach!" I'm glad that we got a real coach who relies on his knowledge of the game and not beating up refs just to make the game go his way. Hurley is way over rated.

I did hear Donny Marshall say our game with Creighton would have had a different outcome had they called a foul.

For the season Jenkins averages 13 shots a game to score 12.9 points a game.
For his ST John’s career Ponds averaged 15 shots a game to average 19.5.
And Ponds wasn’t playing with an all league big.

Hardy in senior year took 13 shots a game to average 18.3. And again no Soriano type on that team.

Hatten for his career averaged 18 shots a game to score 21.2. Again no one close to Soriano on his team.

Jenkins taking on the Hatten, Ponds, Hardy role when he is nowhere as good as those theee, plus there is a better player on his team shooting 60%.

And is Dingle struggling so much because the adjustment in moving up in level of play? Or because his point guard is a chucker?

You keep throwing the Soriano type caveat around, my hang up with that is.. you’ve watched all the games. You know the truth. Soriano doesn’t want that many shots. He keeps getting pushed around and receives the ball too far from the hoop.

But yes, in a nutshell, I don’t want jenkins averaging more shots than a Ponds, Hardy or Hatten. No argument from me there that that number needs to come down.

all I’m saying is, for me, it’s hard to kill the guy (Jenkins) for a high volume day when I look at how the rest of the team was playing.

Luis was the only guy I truly felt wanted to be out there in crunch time on offense. he continues to get pulled out of games because of fouls and shin splints, but to me the key to less jenkins is us accepting Luis is best talent and we need to run through him more

The Creighton Fan Board is almost nearing the contentious of the UCONN Board . Maybe not that bad . But , it’s natural for opponent fans to get their licks in , especially since so many Blue Jays seem plugged into our Board .

It seemed almost laughable for the Blue Birds to chirp , they like that word , about how physical the game was but, not recognize their own Team’s emulating the Nebraska Corn Huskers in Spring Football Tackling practice .

Of course , they attributed the Jays shooting so poorly to just a off day . No credit given to our defense that often caused their misfires .

The Foul Discrepancy issue was just a after thought to the Blues . Seemingly unaware of the overwhelming disparity of their shots taken Vs our shots taken .

Only the few would point to the number of times Soriano and Jenkins were being mugged by The Birds but , never got the required foul shots .
It seems our Guards , going back to both , Ponds and Posh, routinely took near MMA Cage match punishment driving to the hoop and rarely got calls either .

Admittedly it was a low blow to categorize Omaha Tourists to NYC over Christmas as the ones clogging the sidewalks . More like our own SubUrbanites coming into the City for The Nutcracker and Radio City .

The Blues should realize in advance that MSG will be our friendly confines shortly . We will see how the foul calls go that day .

• Approximately 35% of attendances were by people from the New York City metropolitan area (21.7% from New York City and 13.6% from the surrounding suburbs).

• Another 47.5% were by theatregoers from the United States (but outside New York City and its suburbs).

No stats on visitors from Omaha.

Heard that too. Yep, everyone knows that should have been a foul. The Officials stopped reffing the game when the initial shot missed. Really bad job by them there.

To your point, during his post game press conference, McDermott said at the 5:49 mark, "Soriano just got 11 shots and Jenkins, it took him 17 shots to get 11 points. So they weren't overly efficient." Also, to the best of my recollection, Jenkins took the team's first three shots of the game and I don't think the ball touched any other teammates' hands. Don't get me wrong Jenkins brings a lot to the table. He just has to take less shots.

His understudy had 1 asst and 4 tos, mostly of the breakaway layup variety in 9 minutes. Entire team had 5 assts and 6 tos. Previous game Robin had 8 assists and 2 tos. Rest of team 4 assts and 11 turnovers. See the trend? While unlike you I like and support ALL our less than perfect players , realistically we have 2 players that can consistently create their own shot off the dribble and 1 player that creates for others. You think that less Jenkins shots means more points scored when in fact it means more shot clock violations and turnovers. What you and your compadre do is akin to blaming Ginger and Mary Ann for not enough hot chicks on the island.

So creighton was giving daniss free mid range shots and you just said he has a good pull up jumper, so why wouldn’t daniss take some of those shots? I’m pretty sure a bulk of his shots today were mid range pull ups/floaters. It’s what the defense was giving us. So I don’t really fault him for getting those up.

Where daniss went very wrong today wasn’t his # of shots (to me), it was him trying to attack the rim on Kalkbrenner. He banked in one floater over Kalkbrenner very early on in the game, and it ended up being the worst thing to happen to us cause he thought he could keep doing it.

I wish we had one guard who could actually finish over big men. That’s why I think Luis’ usage needs to keep trending upward… if his body can even handle that

Floaters are not the same as pull-ups and not all pull-ups are created equal. When Jenkins pulls up square and with balance on the elbow, he’s almost automatic. It’s a beautiful shot.

When he’s leaning, fading, or shooting floaters he’s a freaking disaster. It’s a very low % shot for him.

And I strongly disagree with you about his volume. It hurts everyone. If you spread 5-7 of his shots out to others we would be so much more dangerous and less timid.

You can’t handle the ball as much as him and also take 17 shots unless you are a rare talent.

The other part of his game is that he doesn’t draw fouls. 9 games he hasn’t taken a free throw. That’s such a big piece of the puzzle for winning teams.

Ledlum has been so much better since he reined it in. Time for Jenkins to do the same.

His understudy hasn’t played with Soriano all year. You could get 4 assists a game throwing Soriano lobs, Carmine.

I kinda wish he tried to force it to Soriano on that last drive yesterday. Looked like there was some room and a guard rotating when the Creighton big came out to challenge.

Plenty of DJ criticism which is understandable. Then again, he runs the team and they are 4 and 2 in conference with 2 last minute road losses against a top 20 and top 5 team. So he must be doing something right. His assist to turnover ratio has improved greatly. I thought most of his shots yesterday were decent looks. He just isn't a shooter.

CRP has very little in the way of options. Wilcher isn't close to being ready. He threw 2 horrendously lazy passes that resulted in 4 points for Creighton. There were a few opportunities for players to be heroes and they couldn't convert open looks. So it's not all on DJ. Coach put this team together in a matter of months. To me, they are overachievers. They are ahead of where I expected them to be. 6 conference games in, and we have shown we can beat any Big East team. I wouldn't be surprised if we made the tournament, and wouldn't be surprised if we didn't. So I'm enjoying the season but know that some good teams are not going to be dancing in a conference this tough.

Oh, he didn’t have to force anything. He had Soriano wide open after Kalkbrenner charged him to defend his shot. Soriano was pointing up for the lob. It was the literally the same exact play they last scored on to make it 65-64 with 2:07 left.
