@Creighton, Sat., Jan. 13, 1p, FOX

Assume you're kidding but if not, no, no and no. (That's a triple, no, a quadruple negative, and I apologize. :)) Several years ago I was of the mind we'd be better off in the A-10. Thought it would give us a better shot at making the tournament and then once we're in, who knows? But Fr. Shanley has made it clear the basketball program is important, and he backed it up by hiring Pitino. I'm good with where we are and excited about where we're going.
I never meant the A10, AAC, or anything like that, just meant if the B12 if they ever wanted to add SJU.

I agree but don't believe Jenkins is making them scared. I have no idea what practices are really like or what Pitino tells them before or during games, but I get a sense that other than Jenkins & Soriano everyone is playing a bit scared that Pitino will yank them for one bad play and they don't want to screw up.

We're basically halfway through season and Dingle cannot be happy with his limited ability to show his offense. Guy was talked about with NBA scouts and he's playing scared. Have to wonder if he regrets his decision.
Dingle’s NBA future has been absolutely shredded. I mean it’s not even a possibility after this year. He will need years of reputation rehabilitation overseas or in the G league. I have never in my life been so shocked by a player’s performance.

I bitched and moaned about Hardy’s usage his entire junior year and predicted his scoring average to the tenth of a percent prior to his senior year with the new staff. My scoring prediction for Dingle was exactly the same as my prediction for Hardy. I still think he could have been then same type of player for us that Hardy was if we didn’t have Jenkins.

Have you ever in your life seen so many players scared to make a meaningful basketball move on one team? I can’t tell you one player on Creighton that looked scared today.
Yea cause creighton was playing at home. Listen it’s nothing new to see a team get rattled in a tough road environment, I just think some of our guys handled it poorly, and it wasn’t due to a lack of opportunities to get comfortable/produce IMO.

Jenkins was bad in the first half today, (as was much of our team in the first half) but I think cherry picking the 17 shots in this one is so lazy cause it was so situational. Creighton was literally sagging off of our guards trying to force them to take mid ranges.

Daniss was taking what the defense was giving him, he just wasn’t hitting. so we tried to work in dingle and Alleyne down the stretch. But they looked scared

But it’s tough to just go away from daniss when he personally stopped every creighton run today with a timely shot. Then he hit the biggest shot of the game for us, a 3 to put us up by 2 late.

His usage was too high today, but when he shows the capability to hit big shots, and no one else steps up and does the same, it’s probably hard for Rick to want to put the ball in someone else’s hands.

It sucks but I do get it.

As for the solution. Moving forward, shin splints or not, I think Luis should have the ball and be attacking

Everyone plays Jenkins that way! You want to give him enough rope to hang himself with.

The last things I want to see as an opposing coach are Luis in the lane, Dingle running pick and roll with Soriano, or running the offense inside-out through Soriano. After that the last things I want to see are Jenkins driving to the basket looking for contact, Jenkins driving and kicking, and Jenkins pulling up at the elbow for a controlled jumper. That’s where the kid is very dangerous.

If you would have told McDermott before the game that Jenkins had 17 shots he’d high five his staff laughing.

Has Wilcher played with Soriano in conference play? I never really paid attention to it, but it seems like he’s always out there with Zuby. It would probably be a nice crutch for him to just lob it into Soriano to gain some confidence.

I don't want Wilcher lobbing a ball to another teammate ever again. Not sure how Pitino will drill it into him, but he needs to develop valuing the ball.

We were bad today. Defense was really bad. We had no business winning this game.

Even when we were up 3 late in the second half It felt like we were down 15.

It wasnt the refs fault. We lost a game that was there for the taking.

Unfortunate but it happens. Need to beat seton hall on tuesday now.

Oh, and this should be the last time we ever here “Dingle is going to have his coming out party today”.

This is who he is and thats not changing.

So creighton was giving daniss free mid range shots and you just said he has a good pull up jumper, so why wouldn’t daniss take some of those shots? I’m pretty sure a bulk of his shots today were mid range pull ups/floaters. It’s what the defense was giving us. So I don’t really fault him for getting those up.

Where daniss went very wrong today wasn’t his # of shots (to me), it was him trying to attack the rim on Kalkbrenner. He banked in one floater over Kalkbrenner very early on in the game, and it ended up being the worst thing to happen to us cause he thought he could keep doing it.

I wish we had one guard who could actually finish over big men. That’s why I think Luis’ usage needs to keep trending upward… if his body can even handle that

What are you talking about? Did you even watch the game? We held them to 36% from the field and 22% from 3 on their home floor. We took Alexander and Schierman completely out of the game.

Alleyne absolutely bullied Alexander into one of the worst games of his career.

I'm glad that the natural order of the universe in which Johnny fans absorb excruciatingly heartbreaking defeats officiated as if Tim Donaghy is down on the money line and Mutt and Jeff, not Boykoff and Gotkin, are blaming our Omega for flooding In NJ, the mid east crisis, inflation and St. John losses has been restored.
