@Creighton, Sat., Jan. 13, 1p, FOX

PS I don't expect to lose any game by 15. It could happen, of course, but I don't expect it. Not sure, based on how we've played recently, why you would.
Everyone gets run out of the gym at some point. We beat UConn badly two years they won national championships. I think we were up 30 Lavin’s first year.

We've done this a bunch of times this season. 9 to 13 point leads tend to be our sweet spots for (quickly) giving up leads. Unfortunately.
Not sure if it's overconfidence(when they take a nice lead) or what, but their play always seems to get sloppy right after we go on a nice run. It's one thing to go cold after a nice run, that's gonna happen, but it's a whole other thing to revert to careless play after a nice run

. I suspect that's right at the top of things Rick addressed with the kids after the game.

Rick wasn't here 2 years ago, and Rick ain't Lavin. Again, it could happen and maybe it will happen, but I don't expect it to happen with this team under Rick.

Sucks to lose that one, so close even with the lopsided/missed calls. But at the same time, this team is on track to make the tourney easily, this game certainly builds character, and the only 2 conference losses are UConn and creighton on the road. I think even this loss continues to raise my expectations for this season.

addressed AGAIN…………….we dodged a bullet against Providence and Pitino sang his thank yous that he could address mistakes after a win. Unfortunately, it appears they didn’t listen.

And what’s with Taylor? I don’t believe he took a shot all game. Is he injured? Has he lost confidence? What’s the deal?????

Close only matters in horse shoes, hand granades,AND the NCAA tournament selection criteria. Dumb yes, but also true that margin of victory as well as margin of defeat is a factor. Stealing a win on the road would have been nice but this team has put themselves in an excellent position to make the entire season exciting. I could be wrong but I believe the sky is still very much in place.

On Jenkins, it is clear he is willing to take big shots and has made his share, but is not a great shooter. To me, we’ll need other guys to embrace pressure and take those crunch time or stop the bleeding shots. You really can’t just solely rely on him. Alleyane got ripped by somebody, but honestly one crunch time jumper went half way down. Dingle was spark off bench in first half, but has not shown crunch time, big shot capability.

The foul differential really bit us in ass as Mug C noted. In addition to putting good FT shooting team on line, it also gave them option at end of giving a fouls reducing a 12 second opportunity for good shot to a rushed 4.5 or so one.
Well said, 20-8 foul disadvantage for us,highly unusual to have such a difference!

I was looking to see if Pitino was working refs at all to at least decrease foul differential but never saw it. I dont recall seeing him ever do it but i defer to those who might know better

Again didn't see the game so can only look at the box score, but the fact that Ashworth who has struggled a bit played 31 minutes without us turning him over once surprises me. Would have thought we'd look to turn Creighton over a lot.
Ashworth hit some big shots!

Jenkins played a great game against Providence, but man 17 shots today? 5-17 from him. Zero FTs for the 9th time in 17 games. He’s a combined 9-30 against the two ranked teams we’ve played, Uconn and Creighton. How many shots is 17? Well, Dingle was the second leading scorer in the country and didn’t even average 17 shots a game. Shamorie Ponds only averaged 14 shots a game his last year here and he was over 45% from the field and 35% from three…and SHAMORIE PONDS.

Jenkins only had 2 rebounds today which is uncharacteristic of him and the same # he had against UConn. We needed him to get on rebounds and loose balls in this type of ugly game. He’s a hustle guy.

Only 2 steals as a team?! Both by Zuby.
