@Creighton, Sat., Jan. 13, 1p, FOX

I expected to lose by 15. I thought we played very well.

Our second unit playing with Ledlum and Alleyne went on a 10-0 run in the second half and 14-5 overall.

Wilcher looked very good until he didn’t. Pitino probably has to have a quicker trigger there because I’m sure we were all thinking the same thing. That lazy pass he made just didn’t make any sense at all. And he was really showing off his potential before that…noticeably the quickest player on the court showing good passing instincts.

I thought Jenkins and Luis were the only guys who were loose and willing to shoot at the end. I think it’s a chicken and egg argument…maybe they’d be looser and more comfortable shooting if Jenkins didn’t take 17 shots and dominate the ball? The three Jenkins made near the end was huge but it was also a terrible shot on so many levels. His confidence is absolutely insane.

We will have to decide if we are okay with our season ending by a difficult off-balance jumper by Jenkins, because that is 100% how it will end unless Luis steps in.

I’d rather Dingle be in there running the final play personally, but if he’s not going to facilitate get him out for Luis. Luis draws the most hard contact, draws the most help, he’s the toughest matchup, and he can get a shot off at will like Jenkins. Let 3-4 others crash glass recklessly.
PS I don't expect to lose any game by 15. It could happen, of course, but I don't expect it. Not sure, based on how we've played recently, why you would.

There were other home calls as well. Does anyone remember the foul called on Dingle who was standing there for several seconds and Alexander charged into him? And then later on a drive by one of our players the Creighton player stepped in late and they called a charge? It was then that I realized the refs were (as some would say) starting to cook.

Teams making runs is one thing, facilitating teams runs with poor play is quite another. And I agree with Delaware, it is a very definite MO of this team.
Your standards unfortunately may be beyond modern hoops. The discipline and attention to detail is not what it should be, but I make the best of it. Respect your view though

I don't know if any of you guys noticed but Ledlum appeared to be hobbled by his ankle, especially evident in lateral movement and he appeared to be hampered jumping. To me he appeared to be gutting it out. Wonder id Rick will comment.

It’s not an easy call. But if there’s no contact do you think that shots a prayer for Dingle? The combination of everything that second half is what makes it tough.
I feel it would have been a bail out for us. I already threw the remote and was walking away looking over my shoulder.

We had our chance. All we had to do was score 1 point in our last two possessions and we got two clean looks and that shot by Dingle with time expiring.

The bigger problem is with the overall foul discrepancy . Creighton had two fouls to play with 15 seconds left and we were in the bonus for ten minutes? How does that happen organically?

Know the quote has been posted already but the video makes it better. Refreshing to have a coach that cares this much especially after the last few we’ve had

We just need a couple of D’Lo’s on this team who hate to lose just as much. Let’s remember that this is a brand new team and even our talent level isn’t what it’s going to be at in a year or two. I enjoy Pitino immensely though.

UConn, Creighton away seem examples of recovering from runs & hanging in there to possibly win in last minute v previous seasons under like circumstances w teams making runs unanswered.
Absolutely, but I’m also thinking of the Michigan & Dayton games. One or two runs, and we were down for the count.

Should we try to avoid these runs in the first place? Sure, but I also agree with you — I think with the three point shot and more loose nature of play, it’s inevitable with most teams

True statement, can’t argue that point at all. I sometimes think my expectations proves Einstein‘s definition of insanity…..:ROFLMAO:

Today was our second BE road “had our chances” game w UConn & CU, hopefully the third is a charm.
