Creighton (MSG), Sun., Feb. 25, 12 Noon, CBS

No one said Jenkins was better than anyone. I simply said that early in the season, his style of play reminded me of Marcus Hatten, and over the 2nd half of the season, he's played at a Marcus Hatten level. He's basically been the only player on our team that we can count on game in and game out, and today he was huge.

Sure he's the best player on the team, but as I've posited often that's the main problem for the team. He'd be at best the 4th best player on any of the top three BE powers. Not his fault of course.

Post game notes:

This game was won on defense, and for my money Glenn Taylor was the player of the game. Ledlum was also huge on defense, rebounding and loose balls.

Jenkins played his best game of the season from a scoring standpoint, primarily because a few more of his hero-ball shots than usual went in. And although he has a few low IQ plays, they didn't hurt us this time.

Would not underestimate the fact that Wilcher was given minutes and played well in minimizing the potential Jenkins downside. Sim is coming along very nicely.

Very happy to see Dingle have a productive game - it looked to me as though the offensive focus was to take shots from around the free throw line and that plays perfectly into his game.

The reffing was pretty bad both ways. And in all seriousness I do think we benefited some from a Creighton letdown. But will take the win - hopefully we can get one at Butler and make things interesting going into the BET.
12-18 from the floor, 6 assists, 1TO and you still knock the guy. Spot on analysis……..

He was clearly feeling it today, and when a player is feeling it the way he was, it ain't "hero ball", it's "carrying your team on your back".

Your point is???

The pathway is definitely there to get to 5th place as long as the Johnnies take care of their own business. The key game will be Nova at Providence - we need Nova to beat Providence. Hopefully this happens:

Nova/ GT - Nova win
Nova @ Providence - Nova Win
Nova@ SH - Nova Loss
Nova / Creighton - Nova Loss
Final BE Record 10-10 (although I believe we win the tie breaker if we both go 11-9)

Providence @ Marquette - Providence Loss
Providence / Nova - Providence Loss
Providence / UConn - Providence Loss
Providence @ GT - Providence Win
Final BE Record 10-10

Definitely can happen! IMHO we will be dancing if this happens!

Such an enjoyable win. So happy for these kids. They showed incredible character and deserve all the respect in the world.

Disagree with your last point. This win puts us back on the bubble.
A win Wednesday and we're back on the bubble.

Just win that, and we just can't lose the last 2 games. Would just need one win in the B.E. Tourny, i'd believe.

I mean this seriously. Luis earns a star for not throwing up dumbass shots and wild passes. Before he can be a plus plus player, has to eliminate the negative negative and he did that today.
He took a couple of very questionable shots in the first half before being pulled.

As I said earlier, if he's open to being coached up then I'd love to have him back next season as I think he seriously have untapped potential. If he's resistant to coaching then we probably need to move on.

Yeah, he only took 6 shots in 11 minutes which translates to a little over 20 for 40, but at least he made one.
Posted seconds after Monte made the same point.
