Creighton Game

Chuck everything that is going on with the team right now - Harrison injury, short bench, Amar or JDR play or don't play.

This is a game that a tourney team, or any team hoping to make the dance WINS. That is regardless of our current record, if we've lost 6 in a row, or are 11-1. a decent team goes in and gets the job done.

This is like a round 1 NCAA game. No matter how competitive the game may be, you have to win. Forget the angry posts if we don't win, because it would be validation that this team just doesn't have the talent, heart, preparation, or anything to be considered a tourney team. We've had our slip home vs. Butler and away at DePaul. No more slips allowed.

Beast agree with almost everything. but IMO this team has as much heart as any St. Johns team I've ever seen. Which is part of the reason why I want a tourney bid so badly for them. If we don't make the tourney, lack of heart is not one of the reasons.

I agree, Monte. This is why I am not too caught up in the vitriol hurled at staff or players. I root for this team, coaches included, and if in the end the team isn't good enough and changes need to be eventually made, so be it. Right now, these are my guys, all of them, coaches included, and I want them to win. All of us do, but if we don't, whatever the reasons, will soon enough become evident and have a corresponding action by staff and/or administration.

Agree

I'm saying tonights game is the season.

They have to go 4-1 in these next 5 games, but if they lose tonight does \anyone here think that we'll win 4 straight? I don't.
Just stating my opinion

They are 2-0 when saying "this game is the season", and i'm superstitious.
Hoping to go 3-0 tonight. Yeah, I know it BS but we'll see tonight.

I know this sounds cliché but in tonight's game we aren't going up against Creighton. We are battling ourselves. If we can avoid getting in our own way we will run these herbs out of the gym.

The only way I see Creighton having any chance whatsoever of winning this game is if we get into some serious foul trouble early on, necessitating the bench to step in for long stretches.

Ummm, just curious, have you seen our prolonged inability at time to put the ball in the basket, or do you take long bathroom breaks in the second half of games?

also our rebounding. I think this will be a close game.

Thinking we'll turn them over 10+ times and we should beat them by 15.
But will we go into scoring droughts can we rebound the freaking ball?

We'll make it hard on ourselves and win 62-57

our defensive rebounding is decent. We don't crash the offensive boards. It seems to be a "strategic" choice, whether you agree with it or not.

We will smoke them tonight. this one will be over early which is good especially because its a 9 oclock game

LOL, you make a valid point. But of all the BE teams, we match up particularly well against Creighton IMO. They are even more turnover prone than us, they have anemic 3 pt shooting (now made worse by Zierden's absence), we are much quicker and Harrison and Jordan are bigger than their guards and will be difficult for them to handle.

Of course, they are desperate for a win and will have 17,000 fans in the house. Maybe the $1 beer they are apparently offering will tip the scales in their favor, but I'm doubtful.

They have a bunch of guys that can hit the open three. Zierden is a big loss for them but I think their overall 3pt % is deceptively low. I don't know the stats for sure but I think as the season has gone on opponents have increasingly locked on their shooters and the percentage has suffered. But leave them open as we are prone to do at times, and they can hit.

Hoping, for these seniors, we can get a win tonight. A loss would be crippling......perhaps the death blow.

While the pressure is squarely on us, for some insane reason, I am feeling confident.

Yea we have to guard against the 3 better than we have, But i dont think we've ever guarded well against the 3 since they put the 3 point line in. Thats the problem

They are starting all their Seniors tonight. No Dougie McBucketz to bail them out this year.

D'Lo back to his old self and we win by 7.
