Creighton Game

Great fans then.

IMHO Creighton has the best fans in the BE and it isn't close.

They are also very well-coached.

It would surprise me not at all if we lose by 12. Hopefully we will race out to a nice lead on superior talent and then hold on for the win against the inevitable comeback in the middle of the second half. Let's see if the staff is wise enough to find just enough minutes for AA, JD, Felix and Branch to get to the end of the game in better shape than usual.

CenturyLink Center Omaha[edit]

Home to Creighton men's basketball since 2003, CenturyLink Center Omaha ranks as one of college basketball’s best venues. The arena was known as Qwest Center Omaha until the fall of 2011. Creighton finished sixth nationally in home attendance, averaging 16,665 fans per home game in 2011-12. It’s the sixth straight season that CU has been among the nation’s top-25 in average home attendance, and set an MVC average home attendance record. Creighton surpassed 200,000 home fans in a season for the sixth time. No other school in the history of the MVC has ever done so.

Chuck everything that is going on with the team right now - Harrison injury, short bench, Amar or JDR play or don't play.

This is a game that a tourney team, or any team hoping to make the dance WINS. That is regardless of our current record, if we've lost 6 in a row, or are 11-1. a decent team goes in and gets the job done.

This is like a round 1 NCAA game. No matter how competitive the game may be, you have to win. Forget the angry posts if we don't win, because it would be validation that this team just doesn't have the talent, heart, preparation, or anything to be considered a tourney team. We've had our slip home vs. Butler and away at DePaul. No more slips allowed.

Beast agree with almost everything. but IMO this team has as much heart as any St. Johns team I've ever seen. Which is part of the reason why I want a tourney bid so badly for them. If we don't make the tourney, lack of heart is not one of the reasons.

Not sure I buy the "very well-coached" Seems like more of the same grass is always greener stuff to me. Having watched them lose so many close games, McD would be burning in effigy if he were at St. John's.

Creighton has had so many close calls this season and at times have looked like a great basketball team despite the record. They are well beyond "due" and playing at home. That said, they are real soft and unlike most teams we are more of a matchup problem for them than vice versa. They have multiple guys that can hit the big shot, but they don't shoot well when aggressively defended. I think we can win this game by a nice margin - on the road.

I agree on getting the bench minutes. I think we could build a big lead even with our bench and just hold it. Don't let the refs take our guys out of the game in the first.

Utilize our quickness advantage to cause turnovers, get some easy buckets, limit our turnovers & rebound, rebound, rebound. Play aggressive, but smart (rarity for us).

they handle and pass pretty well. Don't try to turn their guards over and give the refs the opportunity to call the bs fouls. Just keep on them to deny the open look
then lock down the middle use our length to block or steal anything going inside. could be a block party.

Great fans then.

They had over 16K for South Dakota! The only BE game under 17K so far either year was this year's game vs. DePaul, 16,200 or so during winter break.

Pick of the night -- St. John's -1.5 over Creighton: So I know that eventually Creighton is going to get a conference win against someone. But St. John's runs the risk of really finding itself squarely on the bubble with a loss here. The Red Storm desperately need to win this game in order to avoid going 2-5 in the league. I think that gets them up to play this one, and they give a strong performance.

9pm game time. I hope we can put this away early, otherwise I won't sleep tonite. Can't lose to a winless team.

Tonight's game makes me nervous. I know on paper, and based on how I've seen Creighton play, and with the injured Zierden, we should kill them. But this is just the kind of game that we have lost in the past. Plus, Creighton is looking for their first BE win this year.

I do not like this game tonight. This game tonight I do not like.
Of remaining games that come to light how many are that you do like?

Guess the "no tweeting in season rule" is more flexible than his back. :)

I agree, Monte. This is why I am not too caught up in the vitriol hurled at staff or players. I root for this team, coaches included, and if in the end the team isn't good enough and changes need to be eventually made, so be it. Right now, these are my guys, all of them, coaches included, and I want them to win. All of us do, but if we don't, whatever the reasons, will soon enough become evident and have a corresponding action by staff and/or administration.

The only way I see Creighton having any chance whatsoever of winning this game is if we get into some serious foul trouble early on, necessitating the bench to step in for long stretches.

I was pretty confident in tonight's game until I saw the betting line. One to two point home dogs win more often than not.

Sheed woke up from a deep sleep and thought the game was in Carnesseca Arena

When he realized they are on road trip he pulled the tweet
