With the lifestyle Lavin seems to enjoy, I think he really wants an extension. He is unlikely to get a coaching job at any school that is willing to pay him 1-2 million a year. That's why I think that he is doing the best he can and the best he ever will do.
Question, since you seem to know. What was his ESPN salary? Where does he live? What kind of car does he drive? Is he in the top tier tax bracket or does he enjoy salary deferrals and tax shelters so that 50% of his income doesn't go to state and federal taxes? How much of an apartment can you buy in NYC as compared to living somewhere else in the country? Thanks for your reply
Not sure your point. Are you implying that 1-2 million dollars a year is not enough to live comfortably in Manhattan. I guess you make more.
What I am saying is that $1 million net living in NYC doesn't put you among the rich and famous, especially when your long term prospects are not guaranteed.
I was asking if you knew his ESPN salary, and where his prior residence was while working at ESPN. In terms of his earning potential, he is not exactly Norm Roberts. Some reported his ESPN salary at $1 million as their top analyst.
In an interview back in 2011, Lavin stated that immediately after being fired at UCLA, he applied for the job at Penn State, but they knew his price tag was way higher than the $600K they ultimately spent.on Ed DeChellis. Lavin, like him or not, fire him or not, had a 145-78 record at UCLA, 80-46 in conference. He was fired with 5 years left on his contract, and bought out for about $1.2 million. The terms of that contractual buyout were reduced by his ESPN earnings. Sounds like a smart contract on UCLA's part, since it didn't cost them anywhere close to $1.2 million.
I don't think my earnings are relevant here.
