Creighton Game

@NYPost_Brazille: Asked how they begin winning Big East games after all these losses Lavin: “If I had the answer to that, I wouldn’t be in this business pal."

Huh?

Wow!

Seriously, if the people in charge at SJU read his quotes, how do they feel?
I'd be saying that the guy is a complete idiot. I mean look at that quote.

Just think about what Bobby would think of our alumni if he read our quotes.

@NYPost_Brazille: Found this stat alarming for #sjubb: In 7 Big East games, opposition shooting a shade under 39 percent from 3.

Should end mascot debate and change name to Mountain Climbers - everything is straight uphill with this program. Add opposition shooting better % from 3 collectively than any player on our team individually to the growing laundry list of "near impossible to overcome."

To the point you have made countless times;

@NYPost_Brazille: Another ugly star for #sjubb: Outscored by 38 points in the second half of seven Big East games. Depth matters.

Was thrilled to see us improve that stat last night!

Our scouting and opponent game reviews tell me some on this staff are drinking chianti while preparing for opponents. We would all be speaking German right now if these were our leaders during WW2.

With the lifestyle Lavin seems to enjoy, I think he really wants an extension. He is unlikely to get a coaching job at any school that is willing to pay him 1-2 million a year. That's why I think that he is doing the best he can and the best he ever will do.

Question, since you seem to know. What was his ESPN salary? Where does he live? What kind of car does he drive? Is he in the top tier tax bracket or does he enjoy salary deferrals and tax shelters so that 50% of his income doesn't go to state and federal taxes? How much of an apartment can you buy in NYC as compared to living somewhere else in the country? Thanks for your reply

Not sure your point. Are you implying that 1-2 million dollars a year is not enough to live comfortably in Manhattan. I guess you make more.

What I am saying is that $1 million net living in NYC doesn't put you among the rich and famous, especially when your long term prospects are not guaranteed.

I was asking if you knew his ESPN salary, and where his prior residence was while working at ESPN. In terms of his earning potential, he is not exactly Norm Roberts. Some reported his ESPN salary at $1 million as their top analyst.

In an interview back in 2011, Lavin stated that immediately after being fired at UCLA, he applied for the job at Penn State, but they knew his price tag was way higher than the $600K they ultimately spent.on Ed DeChellis. Lavin, like him or not, fire him or not, had a 145-78 record at UCLA, 80-46 in conference. He was fired with 5 years left on his contract, and bought out for about $1.2 million. The terms of that contractual buyout were reduced by his ESPN earnings. Sounds like a smart contract on UCLA's part, since it didn't cost them anywhere close to $1.2 million.

I don't think my earnings are relevant here.

I don't think ESPN would touch him. He became a Fox man and regardless he would not meet the minimum requirements of knowledge and insight into the game of basketball nor the requirements of a clean shirt and tie. The man has made a living off his time as the coach of UCLA but is now damaged goods as coach of St. John's so my guess is he flies off to the west coast and takes ANY job offered by a D1 school desperate enough just like we did.

I actually think ESPN would take him back. He's very well spoken and eloquent, even if he's spouting a bunch of fluff. The average Joe fan probably thinks he's a great basketball mind.

We out rebounded them. Shot about the same ,forced more tos. What lost the game was FTs they got to the line much more than we did and shot much better than us .

Networks had the b*lls to touch Fran Fraschilla (pun intended), and the temerity to hire NR as an "expert" who proceeded to infer to us that he would have had the same success as Dunlap and Lavin. If Lavin wants back into broadcasting, there will be a job. Barkley spit on a 9 year old girl and threw a guy out a plate glass window. That didn't stop him from getting hired as an analyst, even for college basketball which he knows little about.
