Partly because of these seniors I need heart medication
. Our top 6 players were all nationally ranked players. They are all getting what every player dreams of, playing time. They are playing harder. They are not necessarily playing smarter. It pains me to hear commentators describe our players as offensively challenged, poor perimeter defenders and weak rebounders. Of course I feel for our kids but they need to take responsibility and play smarter not harder.Class of 72

Joe, we lost one key recruit, Thomas, who was a possible starter. That would, or should have, made us an 8 man deep team. Six of our returning players were nationally ranked high school players. We are not as stripped down as appears. Two players that redshirted are invisible and the wizard gave us the false impression they made progress. The problem is these players have not lived up to expectations and Harrison shot 26% again tonight. Opposing teams are salivating knowing we rely on a player that will miss three quarters of his shots. Granted injuries are also taking a toll but the sad truth for us fans is we are going nowhere again this year and just lost to the last place team in the conference.

6 more weeks of this garbage. Thankfully the posts about him getting an extension ironed out are completely erroneous. We will start to hear more about the Wizard being on the hot seat next week once the Super a Bowl is over.
Completely out coached by McDermott last night - the triangle and 2 completely bewildered the wizard and we sucked from there. Lavin's post game quotes are as imbecilic as ever.
Please stop with this "NCAA run" nonsense.
We can't beat creighton or DePaul. We are not consistent enough to win 8 of next 11 (minimum) plus a BET game. The season is over.

I don't blame the kids either, those seniors, Chris, and Rysheed have been busting their asses, and has giving all they have. I have mad respect for those kids. So, now if Jordan can't play we go 5 deep??? This serious makes me sick to my stomach.
This is all on Lavin.
Barring a complete collapse? Well since B.E. play they are 2-6. If Jordan can't play then the seniors and Chris will basically get no rest. Things could get real ugly real fast.
As for Lavins future? Well, he'll coach next year without an extension, but I doubt that he'll recruit top kids only to coach next year then have another coach, coach them. So then why let him coach his final season next year?
I'm a believer that we'll either have to extend him or cut him loose and start all over.
Before tonight my stance was to give him an extension, but after tonight I can't answer that right now.

No need to get upset. No need to worry about this team unless they get to/above .500 in conference.
Now we can refocus our attention to secondary matters like careers, family and friends.
This season is over, for now at least.
On a side note, far more of their fans show up for a team that had lost 9 in a row, than our fans for an 11-1 team playing anyone but Duke. I don't watch other teams sites, but were their fans calling his McD's head?

Any chances for making a nice run is completely vanished with this loss. Coupled with injury to an already thin club spells disaster. I will be going to the g town game at the garden and watching a g town party at the garden. Outside of this game it will be tough watching anymore games this season as it is very emotionally draining to continue watching losing. Unfortunately for all the passionate fans who would like to see some success, our program again falls short in th 2015 campaign.
Seasons not over IMO
I'm probably one of the more optimistic on here, and I agree. Problem is the path has continued to get tougher and tougher with each loss. There is no magical win amount we need. But we're going to need to beat all of the best in the conference now, getting sweeps in some cases too.
I'm not optimistic we make the torunament. But there is still a chance. I won't give up until the final buzzer sounds in BET and we are on the losing end. These guys have earned my attention and support for the rest of the season despite the fact that things don't look great. I wouldn't miss a game for the world
Also, DLo started to look like himself again last night, I'm telling you there was a lot of mental problems going on coupled with the injury, a few threes late he really looked like he gained back that confidence

Real forward thinking at St. John's! We are wearing the old DePaul colors. And playing like them!
When we lost last night I finally let go of the expectations I had for this team when we started out 11-1. I'm not giving up on them, but also not as emotionally invested at this point I'm just going to casually watch and root. No need to get excited unless they give you a reason to. But I'm not saying the season is over because there's always a chance. And these kids aren't quitters

I'm down for sure right now paultz, it hurts to keep losing games we shouldn't. But I'd never give up on DLo and this group. Let's just move on to providence.

Some kid morphed into McDermott...Harrison misses the front end of a one and one late...and we lose. That sums it up. Creighton played with confidence knowing they'd win. We played not to lose. That's on the coach.
Other than the blindest optimists, we knew it would be a long season when we lost the JC leading rebounder in the country and a first team all city player to eligibility issues. That's also on the coach.
It sucks to be a St John's fan. It really sucks to be an old St John's fan.

Not just to Lavin but Whitesell too apparently. A lot of empty suits on that bench. The most important one of course is the one that wears a mismatchIng suit. The wizard has gotten fat eating on his expense account. Fat, stupid and lazy is not going to get him into the Basketball Hall of fame.
