Creighton Game

Not for nothing.....I'm not a regular and I tend to only post during game threads, but when did anyone call any of these kids "losers?"

They are the antithesis of losers. I feel so bad for guys like D'Lo and Pointer who'll never experience an NCAA game because of the situation someone they trusted put them in.

I'm not harping on it, and I tend to be an optimist but I'm completely done with this coach. He has hung them out to dry repeatedly and the lack of any kind of bench blew up in their face again.

The season's not over but what are these kids going to do? Harrison can barely move. Jordan probably has a sprained knee. The rest of them can't get two fouls in 20 minutes....ugh.

Agree 100% on D'Lo and Sir Dom. Damn shame.

Hey, Spurs won today. Good luck against Chelski in the Final. Arsenal are starting to click, so it is not all bad!

Tough loss, not unexpected, but they will be fine as long as Dlo and Jordan are healthy. I love that everyone is jumping off the bandwagon because the team plays its best when most have given up. Agree with most of you that I was mystified when Lavin called another momentum killing TO, they all seem to be right before the 8 minute TO for some reason. Branch fouling out was a killer. Those of you who don't see great year to year improvement in Pointer, Greene, Branch, etc., I don't know what you are watching. Amar clearly belongs in the rotation, played another solid game.

They will be "fine" for what? Spring Break?
If Harrison and Jordan are healthy, and that is a big question mark, there is no doubt in my mind they will make at an NCAA bid. Creighton was due for a win, isn't as bad as it's Big East record and is a tough road spot. We will win anywhere from 8-10 games in Big East and be right on the bubble.

Auditioning for a spot as Lavin's speech writer?

Spurs are far from perfect, but Spurs will be Spurs, I'm used to that by now. Be nice to pick up some silverware. I am a big Islanders fan so that is making this SJU season a little easier to take. I have to be honest, just the sight of Lavin is beginning to irk me.

Do I have to start collecting belts and shoelaces from some of you?

I know this is another tough loss to swallow, but some need to stop bashing the players.

If you truly love this program, you should be proud of these kids and take the loss like a grown up.

Just saying.

Most everyone appreciates the kids. Problem is we have a salesman....uh....I mean coach who can't coach. Hopefully most folks see that by now.

Met a golfer yesterday who grew up in Astoria. He attended LIU but was a Mullin and Berry fan. Left N.Y. to LA while Lavin coached UCLA. and we know that story. He called him nothing but a "Music Man" salesman.

I am, and might have been. You never know with us degenerates.

I feel awful for Harrison. He bleeds for this team and won't even get an NCAA shot. Really isn't fair.

I hate to bash a player that has scored so many points but take away two 3's in the closing minute he played a sophomoric game and was part of the problem in this loss.
He plays lazy defense and basically has two offensive moves, driving to get fouled or taking 3's where he barely hits a third of the time. There is a reason he has never been in the conversation when it comes to the NBA.

It would be easy to make excuses like Rysheed getting injured, short bench or whatever but this team did not come ready to play and gave the game away in the first half. Jamal Branch more than did his job replacing Rysheed but everyone else was ineffective. No one on this team crashes the offensive boards. On a number of occasions there were 3 Creighton players under our basket and not a St. John's player within 10 feet of basket.

So, don't feel sorry for Harrison or Green or anyone because in reality none are as good as we had hoped as seniors and appear to be as inconsistent as they were as Juniors. They show up one game and disappear the next. Sure, our bench is short but what happened to the development of two scholarship players that were redshirted last year? What happened to involving Obekpa in the offense like the first 12 games? This embarrassing coach even regressed back to wearing his mismatchIng clown suit. The face of the program is too lazy to dress for games and that laziness is becoming contagious.

That's weak. Why don't you just take away every point he's ever scored, and make him the worst four year player in the history of the school?

And, it's not like those baskets at the end came while the game was already decided. Heck, he almost hit a 35-footer to send it to OT.

Couldn't agree more, still love rooting for these players.
I have many issues with Lavin, although I am not ready like most of you to get rid of him yet. Don't understand his use of momentum killing timeouts. Don't understand why he never trusts his backups to at least give them a few minutes. I think, unlike most, that we have plenty of depth but the, Coach is just too scared to use it for whatever reason. He told us at the open practice that he had 10-11 guys that are good enough to compete for quality minutes. Even with the losses of Adonis and Thomas that would still leave us with 8 or 9. Our main 6 plus 10 or so minutes from Amar and 5 minutes from JDR and 5 minutes from Stewart or Balamou woukd give plenty of rest to our core 6 and keep our guys fresh and out of foul trouble. I don't like how he handles end of game or other key situations.
However, I do think there are many good points to Lavin. I like that our coach is a good talker even if some of it is bull, some of these kids would never think of coming to SJU if he didn't have that smooth talking charisma that alot of coaches have. I also believe his players have improved a good amount through the years. I wasn't in the locker room but I have to believe that some of that run they put on in the second half was his motivation at halftime.
I think the comments about his attire, his weight (or Adonis' weight for that matter), where he lives, his wife, his expense account, etc. are out of line and unacceptable rantings by fans who are jealous of his life and have nothing to do with coaching or basketball.

I'm sorry, but if you don't feel bad for the seniors on this team I question if you have a heart. Seriously.

I wouldn't say DLO is lazy. Some of the guys he might be guarding are quicker than him but the guy puts more effort into rebounding than every player on our team. That's certainly not lazy and he has no problem putting the effort into guarding guys much bigger than him and he does a solid job when doing that

And DLO when healthy also has a sweet jumper in the lane when he doesn't try to take it to the hoop and he drives to the hoop to draw contact because he is excellent at the line

You don't hear him and NBA because of his size. If the guy was a few inches taller you certainly would. He's going to make a lot of money playing somewhere over the next 10-15 years

Don't think they would be in with 8, but on the bubble, I do think we would have a better than 50% chance of getting in at 9-9 and a great chance at 9-9 plus a win in the BET.

Scoring points but losing games is great for the player but terrible for the team. If a heralded player like Felipe Lopez can be criticized then Harrison certainly is fair game if he plays poorly. I am tired of hearing players say they are 100 % , play like they are 50% and we have figure out where the truth lies.
Volume scorers can be very unreliable if they don't have a complete game in their talent arsenal. That is a problem with a player like Harrison who gives his all but absent his offense, the rest of his game suffers. I can't imagine even a moron like Lavin would play him almost 40 minutes if he were hurt but that is what is going on.

@NYPost_Brazille: Asked how they begin winning Big East games after all these losses Lavin: “If I had the answer to that, I wouldn’t be in this business pal."

Huh?

@NYPost_Brazille: Meanwhile Rysheed Jordan is tweeting up a storm. Social media ban?

Mike I said he plays lazy defense and not that he is lazy. While he may like to mix it up for rebounds he rarely extends himself on defense since he has a scorers mentality. It is not just his size that limits his NBA marketability because Dwayne Wade is maybe an inch taller but is miles ahead in overall talent. He is, at his height, too slow to guard NBA level players. I don't recall him being able to shut down an opponent big or small. I certainly hopes he makes a decent living playing the game he loves but it will not be in the NBA.

Blissfully ignorant of the game of basketball. Well pal, you may not be in this business much longer!
