Fantastic win!! Which I was only able to partially watch because I had my family over for a late Christmas get together. As many other have mentioned, kudos to the staff and the kids. Yesterdays performance begs the questions of why it took so long for CMA too;
-Change up a starting line up which was clearly not getting he job done
-Let Posh run the show and bring Curbelo off bench? We now see why Curbelo was so productive at Illinois as a freshman, and much less so as a soph.
-Get Storr and Pinzon a lot more minutes a
on a team which was sorely lacking outside shooters?
-Get Stanley more PT to help Soriano out

I just hope the delay in making these adjustments, and the resulting losses, doesn't turn out to bite us in the ass come post season selection time. One big win does not a season make, but at least I feel like the team has taken shape and that we can be competitive in most or all of our remaining games. Oh, and "Thank God for Joel!"

One big difference is that offensively, the team is playing to its strengths, driving to the basket, the midrange game and not throwing up threes. Outside of Storr and Mathis when he gets back, no one else should be hoisting up threes.

Again, just a very solid win over a reeling UConn team. If the team plays like this against (2-4 BE) Nova on Friday, this site should be happy again.

Hopefully this game was more than a tease. Even in a great win, still see a lot of stupid BB, the Pinzon 3 with 20 on the shot clock, 3 mins left, just UGH. Posh and Wusu should not be shooting 3s, why does the coach allow it. Someone earlier in the thread labeled Dylan a "shooter", huh?
Big props to David Jones, his playing time is WAY down but instead of moping he seems to be the biggest cheerleader on the bench.

Best player is low post beast. Put couple guys out there with him that can knockdown shots may be a good idea. Hey maybe if had done this sooner…..
Two point guards who can’t shoot and Wusu surrounding him was simply destined to fail

Luckily Danny Hurley is very stubborn and didn’t adjust his defensive game plan to disallow drives and make us a jump shooting team.

Funny how UConn fans want him fired also.

Monte. Great points. Watching St John’s play together since the summer The starting lineup was not working
as you said hopefully finally making these adjustments wasn't too late. Let’s get nova Friday night

What's the STORY in STORRS,;

Why didn't UCONN sign A.J. ?
Even on the bench he would have good STORAGE value

The emergence of Pinzon and Storr has been a major factor for the improvement on offense. Pinzon has a skill set that the team has lacked to date-a player that can create off the dribble and hit the 3 or pull up for a mid range jump shot or floater. Storr makes mistakes, but then so do the 4 juniors we have. Except Storr is a better shooter and has a ton of upside. He has high major athleticism that he will showcase when his confidence level increases.

Seems like we were easy to prepare for prior to the starting lineup change. Not so much now. Defensive energy far better as well. The harassment of Hawkins in the second half was impressive. Not certain we have turned the corner, but at least there are signs of life.

You neglected to mention Pinzon

Stanley only played 6 minutes, his second lowest total of the year. Not sure why, injury, illness, or coaches decision. Hope Joel can continue to keep away from foul trouble the rest of the season and amazing that he got himself in shape to play 35 minutes a game.
Yeah, not sure what the deal was with Stanley but we need him so I hope he’s healthy and not in coach’s dog house
