Coaching Changes

Love the coach, love the program, but I can't see most Ohio St. fans thinking this is a sexy enough hire.

They would be dead wrong
This guy can coach!!
Besides, hoops are the third most important sport at Ohio State
#1 is football and #2 is spring football

Per Gary Parrish:

"SOURCE: Chris Holtmann is in negotiations to become Ohio State's coach. Still not 100% done. But could finalize today barring a breakdown".

It looks like it's going to happen

If true, I wonder which Butler assistant coach will get the job
Seems to be a pattern there - they generally promote from within

I doubt it this time but it is also because they always have had "real" assistant coaches.
Wouldn't it be ironic if Thad Matta takes the job since his salary won't be an issue over the next 5 years.

Holtman has joined Ohio state

This should be good news concerning luther right?

Butler rarely makes mistakes in hiring a head coach so don't be so excited.
It seems the rest of the basketball world has been feeding off the Big East for years. :(

Re. Luther Muhammad, if Shamorie comes to his senses and decides to return for his junior year, Luther becomes a much lower priority especially with the addition of Dixon. Add Justin Simon and Bryan Trimble and we be OK at guard for 2017-18. The focus will continue to be a big but this staff seems to leave no stone unturned.

Looks like Ohio State was going to hire a coach from the Big East no matter what.

Wouldn't be surprised if, after next year, we are worried about Simon leaving as well. Retention will be very important. Sometimes convincing your own players to stay is as important as recruiting (see Blueitt, Brunson, etc.).

Coaching changes???

If Luther was interested in Butler he must have liked Holtmann so maybe Ohio St. becomes an even bigger threat than Butler was. Who really knows?

Great progression.

Chris Holtmann went from HC of Gardner Webb to Butler assistant to Butler interim HC to Butler HC to Ohio State HC in four years. Unreal.

And if Brandon Miller didn't have all his issues, Holtmann may never have been in a position to land such a big job.

Although I would argue that Butler is the bigger job right now. Just doesn't have the football money behind it.

Butler was paying him 1.2 mill ? Damn we pay close to 70% more than Butler
