Coaching Changes

An odd one re Santini Brothers' favorite coach;

Jon Rothstein‏ @JonRothstein

Sources: LIU-Brooklyn has contacted Hall-of-Famer Larry Brown about its head coaching vacancy. STORY @FanRagSports:

I heard he took the job at 4 pm today and the parties mutually agreed to part ways at 6 pm. The NCAA is considering sanctions for activity occurring during those two hours.

But in the interim he signed a top 20 freshman class.

amazingly, all true :eek:hmy:

Which means Mike Rice still available for assistant coaching positions. :whistle:

Damn it!

I feel bad for the guy. I wanted to make some disparaging comments but instead I'm just going to say that I am going to miss him despite always being confused as to whether he was Dopey or Sneezy the Dwarf.

I stand corrected. Wrong animated character.

Does G'town have any former players with college coaching experience, who could be considered for the job?
I think I've seen Patrick Ewing senior as an assistant on a bench or two in the nba.

As expected, JTIII fired by Georgetown.

Dad is going to be pissed.

Maybe not that much if Ewing Sr. is given the job.

That would be a very interesting turn of events. Ewing wants to coach (preferably the NBA I am sure) but I wonder if they to would go to him like we did to Chris to try to restore there basketball program to previous heights.

Ewing is currently the top assistant of the Charlotte Hornets. Guess if he got the Gtown job he would retain his son on the staff.

Just looking at a Hoya fan board. Their fans seem to be divided with 3 names receiving support. Crean, Hurley and (surprisingly to me), Shaka Smart. For what it's worth, Smart has allegedly shown interest in leaving Texas for the G'town job. He supposedly has a very small buy out from his current contract.
Not too much chatter for Ewing, even though he is every bit as important to that program as Mullin is to ours. Plus he at least has some assistant coaching experience.
