While Hopkins got a good job, I kinda feel sorry for him. He probably holds the record for the longest tenure as a named "coach-in-waiting" without actually getting the job. I wonder if he passed on other potentially lucrative opportunities to be a head coach elsewhere during those years.

Syracuse is trying to spin it so that the Boeheim extension happened because Hopkins chose to leave for another job. It would not surprise me if the complete opposite was true. I think Hopkins knew that Boeheim was going to stay beyond 2018 and that's why he accepted the Washington job. He was tired of getting his chain pulled by Syracuse. I can't blame him. He was a loyal soldier for many, many years.

Either Hopkins or Jerry Sandusky for longest time as coach in waiting. By the time Paterno was out as coach he was like 84 and Jerry was behind bars.
 
JB probably realized it would be a lot harder to cheat on his wife during retirement. Hard to sneak out if you are expected to be home.
 
This one's a surprise, IMO. They finished second place in the NEC this year, and of course, had that nice win over us at Barclays Center.

very surprising because they have been improving the last 3 years.

Wonder if they go back to Jim Ferry

One guy who would be perfect for LIU is VCU assistant Rasheen Davis. They need to recruit the city

I wonder if Jim Ferry, former coach there & recently fired by Duquesne would also be considered. Perri was in last year of his LIU contract. Perhaps there were salary differences of opinions in the mix here.
