Coaching Changes

There are some great things about UNLV including its history, facilities and location and if they are going to pay you the big bucks you have to consider it. However you have to play a really tough schedule and perform very well to get a bid in the NCAA tournament if you lose your conference tournament. Not like the ACC where you can go .500 with a really bad loss allowed.

True but what job in the ACC is Cronin up for? He's in the American which is bad and keeps getting worse. And the movement of further realignment seems a bit slow at this time.

Local Pitt station (KDKA -CBS Affiliate) is reporting that Pitt job has been offered to Sean Miller. Money is not an issue. He is in town talking to Pitt. 50/50 chance the deal gets done.

Heard they are offering a signing bonus of $2 million and $5,000 gift card to Brooks Brothers for some fresh shirts.

I'm skeptical of this but if this is the case maybe Matt A should re-follow Rawle on twitter fast! hopefully we're the only idiots who noticed

I agree. Although he grew up in the area and went to Pitt, I can't imagine he would leave Arizona for Pitt.

My wife and her family are huge Pitt fans. For their sake, I hope it works out.

I read yesterday that Mick wants out of Cincy, and that money wouldn't even necessarily be an issue, even though UNLV has apparently never paid more than $700,000 to a coach. So if they've opened the checkbook for Mick, it seems like it definitely gets done.

Archie could be a possibility. Different Miller OK?

Sean Miller isn't leaving Tucson anytime soon. With a longevity bonus, he gets $4.5M+ next year from the U of A.

Have never met him, but know people at Stanford who say he is a great guy, so not a shock that he'd land somewhere quickly.

A little surprised that a return engagement by Ben Howland is not a consideration
He had a great run there years ago when Pitt was in the Big East

Yahoo tossed out both Cooley and Willards name. I hate providence but losing Cooley would be bad for the league.

Per Goodman;

Howland is happy in Starkville, doesn’t want to leave after a year — and has a highly regarded recruiting class coming in for next year.

Cooley's a local guy with deep community ties. Doubt if he'd leave Providence.

Per Rothstein;

Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell will hire Buffalo's Donyell Marshall as an assistant, sources told @CBSSports. Both have UConn ties.

Per Pat Forde

"Just saw men's basketball committee member and LSU AD Joe Alleva at arena in Louisville. Said LSU is not making a change in basketball coach"
