@GaryParrishCBS: I’m told money is no object at Alabama. Will start above $3 million. Would go as high as they need to go. Gonna make Gregg Marshall say no.

Speaking for Marshall:

Hell NO!

Not many people are in the habit of turning down $3milion dollar paychecks.

I think he has a list of schools he wants, and Alabama is not on it. I can see him asking for $5 million or more from them just to see their response. Seems to truly love where he is.

Fair enough, and he's probably in a position where he can wait for an Indiana, Michigan, UCLA, UNC type job if that's what he wants.

But, my point is just that you have to take Alabama seriously because they'll make him a very competitive offer.

I certainly think they will make a great offer. But I think he thinks he can do better.

I have no doubts that he's already been contacted by Indiana boosters. I read somewhere that Crean's job security is inversely proportional to a potential top candidate's interest in his job. If Brad Stevens or Marshall want his job, he's apparently toast. I assume Alabama is richer . . . but it's still Alabama. Being the head coach at Indiana means something more than money.

I heard they are doing a "gold" tooth donation drive but have had difficulty finding any teeth in Alabama.

Ahhh good old Gregg Marshall.

Two degrees of SJU separation.

Louie begets John Kresse who begets Gregg Marshall.

Playing the "what if" game; when Looie left for the Nets job, in 1971, he took Kresse with him, and second assistant, Frank Mulzoff moved up to head coach. If Kresse had stayed, he might have been there for a long successful run, and our sad recent history might have been very different.

Looie would have still gotten his job back when he wanted to return.

I don't suppose Kresse reminisced every day to Marshall about the good old days at St. John's, huh?

@JeffRabjohns: Brian Wardle, Dane Fife, Greg Paulus among the coaches Bradley has interest in, per multiple sources.

All former guards.

Why not?
The SEC is a terrible basketball league
Two good recruiting classes and he could become an instant hero

They'll undoubtedly lead the Missou Valley in pouts, flops and teabag victimization.

Funny, the Dookies never flop fast enough when they see a penis coming.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist)

Kresse was Looie's secret weapon. Moved to College of Charleston as head coach with his wife who got a job as women's BB coach and he got an area named after him.
Mulzoff's only remembered for his red socks.

Frank Mulzoff was an unusual choice for head coach at the time because SJU felt they could be successful with any coach and his teams were good. He had inherited Looie's players to begin with.
He was treated pretty bad when Looie wanted back in and IMO his teams played the most exciting style of basketball in SJU history.
He really is the coach who never was in SJU history.

For those who aren't familiar with the situation, can you fill us in on how this all went down? So Looie went to coach the Nets, and then Mulzoff took over? So then Looie wanted back in a few years after, and how was it all handled? Why did Looie leave in the first place?

Underwhelming-
Frank Mulzoff (Independent) (1970–1973)
1970–71 Frank Mulzoff 18–9 - - NIT First Round
1971–72 Frank Mulzoff 19–11 - - NIT Semifinals
1972–73 Frank Mulzoff 19–7 - - The NCAA First Round
Frank Mulzoff: 56-27

After posting how I liked Mulzoff's style of bb I just checked his results.
83 games
50 games SJU scored at least 80 points
26 in the eighties
13 in the nineties
11 100 or more
We could use Frank now.
