Looks like an instant replay of Rutgers Eddie Jordan not graduating. At least he kept the job.

Eddie Jordan lied about getting a degree from Rutgers while applying for the HC position at Rutgers? I don't remember that but that's just insanely stupid.

It was revealed soon after Jordan got the job, that he did not have a degree. I don't think he lied on his resume about that, though. I think it was known by all parties. The media just rushed to judgement, and called him a "Rutgers alum." Believe that he is taking classes part-time, in order to finish his degree.

So is a certain level of intelligence. Lying on his resume about his degree shows very little.

I suppose.

But I once knew of this bigshot advertising exec who seemed to have it all. Turns out he faked his own death in the Korean War, took the identity of a dead officer and parlayed that into a nicer life than he was on track for.

And he wasn't dumb.

My point is that a minor indiscretion about who graduated from what and where and when should not prevent a guy like Steve Mas from getting jiggy with Betty Draper.

I doubt Jordan lied to Rutgers about having a degree since that is where he went to college and they would be the ones to know.

It just was not an issue for them.

I thought it was an issue and they made him take classes to finish up.

Place huge buyout in 1st 3 years of a new contract, let him get degree while coaching there, after 3 years wide open again. everyone happy - except the self righteous main stream media who cannot even proof read an article properly. It's amazing any writers are earning their degrees these days...

@GoodmanESPN: VCU's Shaka Smart called Marquette today to inform them he won't take the job, sources confirmed to ESPN. First reported by @GaryParrishCBS

Gman, you could be right as that could have been a condition of employment.

Zagsblog has that information and the claims Williams took a pay cut to go to Va. Tech.

He is taking classes to finish his degree, I believe.

Again though, I don't think he lied to them (or on his resume) about not graduating. The media just automatically called him a "Rutgers alum" because he played all 4 years there.

Latest on local radio - UNLV coach Dave Rice has been offered the USF job at 1.2 million for five years, which doubles his UNLV money. He is on thin ice in vegas, after disappointing season. Names being thrown around for UNLV are Howland, Smart, Reggie Theus and Marvin Menzies. I think Theus or possibly SD State assistant, Justin Hutson would be the best options. Wonder if Lavin would be interested?

Yeah, it was mentioned Buzz took a pay cut the day he was hired. Speaks volumes about the devaluation of the BE or the value of the ACC. Went from a potential dominant program in the conference to a dog as well.

Speaks volumes about Buzz, his crappy season, his word to his recruits and the fact he had worn out his welcome. Sound familiar?

@GoodmanESPN: Been told that no offer was made from South Florida to UNLV coach Dave Rice, per source. Two sides met, Rice likely to stay at UNLV.

Goodman now saying Dave Rice is officially no longer a candidate at USF.

Matt Youmans had a front page story, in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, discussing this matter and states there was a six year 1.3 million per offer and Rice met with UNLV AD to see what counter-offer might be forthcoming. The clear impression was that Rice held a solid offer from USF. No new info reported, as yet. Rice has serious limitations as a head coach, but he does have three of the top-rated recruits coming in next year, but the program is a mess, with multiple transfers, in and out, fights, suspensions, etc.

Sounds like he used USF to get some nice leverage. From Goodman at ESPN this afternoon:

"Rice met with new USF athletic director Mark Harlan in Tampa on Friday, sources told ESPN. Rice flew back to Las Vegas on Friday and was scheduled to meet with UNLV athletic director Tina Kunzer-Murphy.

"Dave does have a solid offer from South Florida," Kunzer-Murphy told the Las Vegas Review-Journal Friday night. "I really think that (Saturday) we'll have it resolved."

i got this alert on my phone and was kinda surprised, but to be honest it is nice to see that MU is going after a school in a BCS conference.

FWIW, Martin is originally from Illinois, so the MU job may pique his interest. He also played at Purdue with Glenn Robinson in the early to mid 90's.

Geographically, MU may be more to Martin's liking than Tennessee.
