Coaching Carousel

If nothing else, leaving right after Pearl is no longer available would be a great way to stick it to the UT fans who did nothing but complain about him.

There are reasons why the former Coaches as TV analysts exist. First, despite the $$$ they made as Coaches, they are still too young to retire. And, since they didn't immediately get hired as Coaches again, the ESPN OR FOX or whomever is good for a 6 month gig and keeps them somewhat in the limelight.

The record of ex Coaches who have been fired someplace is not that good. Lavin, Fraschilla,Pete Gillen, Tim Welsh, Steve Lappas had spent years now at the mike. True, Lavin and Bruce Pearl found jobs but, it took LAVIN 8 years after UCLA to get our job, after Billy Donavan turned down Repole money. Pearl getting Auburn is unique because the SEC cares little about their image and Auburn thinks he getting them to challenging Kentucky status but, that's unlikely. Auburn is the typical FB school and BB IS SOMETHING UNTIL SPRING PRACTICE OPENS.. They could care less about his prior image or record at Tennessee.

Many schools want a up and comer like Archie Miller or,Shaka . Or, reach into the high profile Assistants, like Wojo or AntIGUA. We'll see how the Coaching Carousel plays out in the next few weeks.

Lavin turned down NC State prior to us. Lavin could of got back into the game a lot quicker but he was being picky on the situation he wanted to get himself into.

Nice hire by USF.

Also, does Mary Lavin actually appear in anything? I've heard this before, that he might move to LA for her acting career.
Not that this matters, but it seems to me that their household follows the direction Steve's career takes, and not the other way around. If one person makes over a million, and the other is an extra in a sitcom every other year, seems like they would go where Steve's coaching or broadcasting dictates. but that's just my opinion.

Didn't you want Orlando here? Also, aren't you a Mets fan with an Orioles avatar?

1) Yes, I think he would've fit the bill of a hungry young coach with ties to NYC. Also known by everyone on the AAU circuit from recruriting the John Walls and Anthony Davises.
2) Former Mets fan. I renounced that organization because I feel the Wilpons engaged in a fraud by knowingly accepting out-sized returns from Madoff while back loading their players' contracts to the most extreme extent possible. And then they lied about it. So, I can't in good faith spend money at Citifield anymore.
I looked around and knew I couldn't root for the Yankees or Phillies, Boston fans annoy me, so Baltimore was the next closest team and they don't regularly play against the Mets. Hence, I'm a O's fan now.

1) I am sure someone rattle off the names Norm recruited for big schools. Doesn't = big coach
2) My brother who is an SJU grad/MBA/law degree all from SJU working at Davis Polk in Wilpons defense honestly believes they didn't know. He's a good a man I know. That is enough from me.

Didn't actually mean to click the "thank you" icon but clicked it by accident. Joe you made some good points (I use the analogy that basketball is something to do between the end of bowl season and spring practice for schools like Auburn), but I think Lavin could have gotten back in the game earlier.

The way they run the Mets is an embarrassment. Houston and the Mets the only teams with losing records five years in a row and six is a guarantee. Nice choke job today.

I'm not ready for baseball yet, and the mets choke job today was just dreadful. I'm focused on the Knicks making their playoff push, they are one game out now...

@GoodmanESPN: Ohio University's Jim Christian is a serious candidate at BC, multiple sources told ESPN. In fact, may be the frontrunner.

Agreed on the Mets; that is a team that knows how to lose. Alderson has certainly got some impressivve young arms but is it too much to ask to get relievers who are not afraid to throw strikes?
