Coaching Carousel

I feel like if Iona opened this season instead of last he may have gotten the nod there. Obviously his loss was our huge gain.
How much longer does LaRanagga stay at Miami ? He’s like what 72-73 ?
McDermott take Michigan job ? If not , Ohio State .

Would he ?

Did DePaul ever Win a National Title ? With Geo Milan and Ray Meyer?

Yes. The NIT before the NCAA started a year later . And , for years after that , the NIT was higher regarded than the NCAA.

I know the family very well, coached three of his nephews, and Jim Larranaga has as much, if not more, energy than Pitino. Smart, smart man, I re-posted a video here from last year regarding his thoughts on NIL; IMO, very much worth listening to.

The great read "Miracles on the Hardwood" that chronicles Catholic colleges and their prominence throughout the history of college basketball (including modern era) obviously includes quite a bit about us up through Mullin-Berry era.

Also DePaul with an illustrious history on par (perhaps better) than ours mostly because Mikan was Wilt before Wilt.

Highly recommend the book, suggested to me by our own NYCRedmen (photographer extraordinaire)

Great book, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Matt Norlander with his take on possible openings. Despite chatter does not think Michigan or Indiana will open.

Thinks it is 50/50 Bobby Hurley stays at Arizona St. No permanent AD. Still does not believe he takes DePaul job and goes head to head with his brother.

Arizona State. The Sun Devils are likely to finish sub-.500 this season and Bobby Hurley has no full-time athletic director at the moment. He's done a solid job across nine years vs. what's historically been achieved at ASU: a 155-128 record. Hurley's three NCAA Tournaments are second-most in program history. One of a handful of jobs that seems 50/50 on a change.

I would like to see both their heads explode at same time, although I think Bobby would explode on Danny more than Danny would explode on Bobby.

Did you coach Tom? I knew him when he was at Northstar Media about a dozen years ago. We used to talk hoops at conferences.

They are both volatile obviously but I do think Danny is a little more under control. Also I think we can put to bed who is the better coach/program builder.

BTW-Did you ever see the video of those two coaching together at Wagner during a game? Funny stuff...

They coached at Wagner vs. SJU at CA once. I legit thought Danny was going to have a heart attack on the sideline that night. Bobby was the 'calm' one.

No, coached three sons of Jim’s younger brother. Two are teachers, one an accountant I think.

I think Bobby Hurley is coaching Fla Atlantic next year, after Dusty May takes Ohio St/Michigan job

I don't think 19-10 gets you fired generally, but do wonder if Oregon wants a new voice for the post-Pac-12 future.

Somebody is about to make a ton of $ soon, NIL, back channel transfer mania obviously is in his wheel house

Rick’s kid not finishing strong at New Mexico, so find this possibly shit against the wall material

It does bring him closer to New York, which would make the transition from father to son…

Ok. Ok. I was going to say that Pitino hacked my account, and posted this, but thought better of it.😁
